Epic Swindle Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 Legend. Just a bit. The best ever buy for me. He's everything that I look up to as a Liverpool player and I just hope he comes back one day, he and Xabi.
Puma Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 One of my top three players ever to play for us. Absolute legend and should have had much more credit when playing for us.
Leo No.8 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 One of my favourite Liverpool players of all time. Proper legend.
muleskinner Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 One of my top three players ever to play for us. Absolute legend and should have had much more credit when playing for us.He wasn't short of praise or plaudits, class act but top 3 is pushing it a fair bit.
Spense Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 (edited) He wasn't short of praise or plaudits, class act but top 3 is pushing it a fair bit. Yep, agree he's not even in our top 3 centre-halfs but your right he was a class act. I think part of his allure was he followed a desperate decade of defending,he was like an oasis in the desert. Epic Swindle Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 Nah, he was top class and would have featured in any of the great Liverpool sides. Great guy as well, one of the best.
muleskinner Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Nah, he was top class and would have featured in any of the great Liverpool sides. Great guy as well, one of the best.No said any different, but he isn't in the 3 best players we've ever had. It's not a criticism.
Leo No.8 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Think sometimes though you associate with a player for personal reasons, they can be one of your top 3 favourites without necessarily have being one of the top 3 best. I feel that way about Sami, one of my all time faves for a number of reasons.
alli Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I'm in tears watching this! Why did you have to leave you utter legend of a man
Chili Palmer Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 If there was a top three 'How to behave when you are a Liverpool player', Sami would be in it. Suarez just missed out...
drdooom Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Yep, agree he's not even in our top 3 centre-halfs Which 3 were better and how many of them have you seen play yourself?
Chili Palmer Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Which 3 were better and how many of them have you seen play yourself? Hansen and lawro are the only two I've seen play that were better.
Nerik Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Hanson-Thommo were the best partnership ever in terms of best defence and least goals conceded. Hyppia was the bedrock of a lot of our great defences post 1999.
Swan Red Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 No said any different, but he isn't in the 3 best players we've ever had. It's not a criticism. to be fair the guy said one of his top three players and we have different favourites for different reasons so having Sami in that seems prefectly reasonable
Spense Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Which 3 were better and how many of them have you seen play yourself? Hansen and Lawrenson seen. Sami would have been third on who i've seen play. I leave it to older heads to decide if any from the 60s and 70s were better.

lfc003 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Just been named interim coach of Leverkusen alongside Sascha Lewandowsk after the manager was sacked, Good luck Big man
Cam Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Hopefully he'll get it full-time and we'll draw them in the Europa.
New York Red Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Sami and Hansen were the best I've ever seen for us. Thommo and Emlyn were definitely behind them in my mind.
RBM Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Sami's ace, I hope makes a brilliant success of it, which brings him back here one day.
floyd Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Sami and Hansen were the best I've ever seen for us. Thommo and Emlyn were definitely behind them in my mind.I think you do disservice to Lawrenson. I know he comes across as a thundercvnt, but he was some player.
Murphman Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Hansen and Lawrenson seen. Sami would have been third on who i've seen play. I leave it to older heads to decide if any from the 60s and 70s were better. Phil Thompson and Tommy Smith were better players in my opinion. I was too young to call it with Yeats. Hansen and Lawrenson stand out, the latter being an absolute c*nt of a man makes Leo's point perfectly though. I met Sami, TWICE, it was an honour.
New York Red Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I think you do disservice to Lawrenson. I know he comes across as a thundercvnt, but he was some player. His post playing career has completely clouded my opinion of him. Got to disagree with Murph though. Thommo maybe (big maybe). Tommy definitely not.
