Bailo Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I'm not saying he'd be the difference (he does know where the goal is), but his continual in and out is mystifying. What is going in with him? Is he getting injured and we've not been told? Are we due to pay him £50m if he plays one more game? I presume he's off in the summer but it's really bizarre.

FirstDescent Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Got a game for Argentina in the midweek... bizarre that hes not involved anymore considering his performances when hes had the chance to play this season. Hes clever, good with the ball and knows how to score.
Nerik Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 We needed someone like him yesterday. Same as when we won it late with Garcia coming on late on vs Arsenal in 2006.
Nebraska Red Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 His lack of playing time is another one of those perplexing problems we have at the moment. No Maxi. no Bellamy, no Carroll, no Shelvey, no goals.

Hendo, Adam, Downing and Carroll will all benefit from the faith being shown in them by Kenny.
The_Adder Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Maxi at this stage offeres much more than Henderson or Downing in the wide roles - Henderson is never a wide player anyway. Him in place of Downing on Saturday and you get his excellent link up with Suarez. Saturday's front three baffled me completely on Saturday - no Bellamy either, crazy. Downing has ZERO and I really do mean ZERO goal threat. He's a 4-4-2 player.

D.Boon Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 To answer the OP Maxi always has a had a tendency to go missing.

No more than the likes of Downing Henderson and even Carroll can His style suits Kenny's game, those other three don't, which has made it stranger that it took us so long to give him more gametime since the start of the season

He will be replaced by Clint Dempsey in the summer. I'm calling it right now.

The only one that should benefit, and frankly the only one worth the sacrifice, is Henderson.
cymrococh Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 People moan about him not playing, then he gets given a chance and he's rubbish. He's been alright against (some) rubbish sides this season.

Not sure what his conversion rate is, but he tends to make things happen up front, he makes clever runs from out wide, links up really well with Suarez when they get to play together.

goodrobotusses Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I think he's a victim of a desire for quick players on the wing (not that Downing or Henderson know how to use their pace). A shame – one of our most intelligent players.

Keita Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 He's good enough to play for Argentina with Messi and Aguero, but not for us with Carroll and Downing.
Leo No.8 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Has been horribly underused this season - he is the most natural goalscorer and best finisher in the squad by a distance, qualities we have lacked badly. Worth his place most weeks for his goals - 1 in 3 his career almost, astonishing for his position.
