Jailbreaking an iPhone

Selling my old 3G which is Vodafone. Bit of advice needed from those who've done it before.

 

Has anyone run jailbreak software before or have you taken it into one of those snide shops? Wary of both approaches tbh.

 

Or, should I just sell it as a Vodafone phone? Not sure of the differentials in resale value.
