The door opens for Hodgson!

 

The Football Association can confirm that Fabio Capello has today resigned as England Manager.

 

This follows a meeting involving FA Chairman David Bernstein, FA General Secretary Alex Horne and Fabio Capello at Wembley Stadium.

 

The discussions focused on The FA Board’s decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello’s response through an Italian broadcast interview.

 

In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio’s resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England Manager with immediate effect.

 

David Bernstein said: “I would like to stress that during today’s meeting and throughout his time as England Manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner. We have accepted Fabio’s resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future.”

 

A media conference with David Bernstein and the Club England Management team will take place at Wembley on Thursday at 12 noon.

 

The FA will not be making any further comment until the media conference.

He was a waste of money. £6M for a part time job, ridiculous. And to resign over his beloved "JT"? f*** Capello and f*** his captain, pair of dicks.

There is a man with more pedigree and better credentials than either, and that would be Rafa, not a chance theyd give it him and I think he would have too much sense to take it

well, chelsea spent 28m to replace ancelotti with vilas-boas. and 64m total on changing managers.

6m is a bargain!

He might think it's more trouble than its worth though. Spurs in the CL might be hard to ditch.

Part time until the summer, he'll take it full time then. He's 66, next World Cup takes him to 68, Euros after 70.

Next manager will essentially get a free pass for the coming Euros regardless of how they got on.

 

"They had no time to prepare with the players, it was all so short notice. look at the mess that awful Capello left behind."

They might surprise us and go for someone off the radar. Pardew, maybe. He'd get destroyed though.

 

I'm no England fan but this is absurd. Absolutely f***ing hilariously mentally absurd.
