BDB Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) The door opens for Hodgson! The Football Association can confirm that Fabio Capello has today resigned as England Manager. This follows a meeting involving FA Chairman David Bernstein, FA General Secretary Alex Horne and Fabio Capello at Wembley Stadium. The discussions focused on The FA Board’s decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello’s response through an Italian broadcast interview. In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio’s resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England Manager with immediate effect. David Bernstein said: “I would like to stress that during today’s meeting and throughout his time as England Manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner. We have accepted Fabio’s resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future.” A media conference with David Bernstein and the Club England Management team will take place at Wembley on Thursday at 12 noon. The FA will not be making any further comment until the media conference. Edited February 8, 2012 by BDB

BDB Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 Surely Hodgson will be on for the Spurs job if Harry gets England!
stressederic Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) Wow. Nice work from England to completely destabilise themselves again before another tournament. Edited February 8, 2012 by stressederic
DonRafa Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Bet Capello is crying all the way to the bank. Let the circus begin!
Gambit Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 He was a waste of money. £6M for a part time job, ridiculous. And to resign over his beloved "JT"? f*** Capello and f*** his captain, pair of dicks.
Tosh Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 (edited) HAHAHAHAHAHa The FA really are a bunch of tvvats. 2nd Choice Steve and now this. A complete shambles Has Harry got the balls to do the job??? Edited February 8, 2012 by Tosh
dave Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Win/win this. Harry or the Hodge would be perfect for obvious reasons...
baz2107 Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 There is a man with more pedigree and better credentials than either, and that would be Rafa, not a chance theyd give it him and I think he would have too much sense to take it

Roscoe Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 I'm no England fan but this is absurd. Absolutely f***ing hilariously mentally absurd.
Cheesecake Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Shame - Might get Hodgson off the hook this - hes days away from getting the sack there I reckon.
Epic Swindle Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Not a shock, they've been hounding him out for a while. Think they'll approach Redknapp now, cutting it a bit fine with a new manager in the summer.
Candystore Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 The press are going to make sure their man Redknapp gets the job. Sky mentioned his Intertoto win as an achievement!
Epic Swindle Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 He might think it's more trouble than its worth though. Spurs in the CL might be hard to ditch.
Bailo Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 He might think it's more trouble than its worth though. Spurs in the CL might be hard to ditch.Part time until the summer, he'll take it full time then. He's 66, next World Cup takes him to 68, Euros after 70.
stressederic Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Next manager will essentially get a free pass for the coming Euros regardless of how they got on. "They had no time to prepare with the players, it was all so short notice. look at the mess that awful Capello left behind." All vaguely reminiscent of the waivers the press issued Woy.
Cheesecake Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 He's 64, the curmudgeonly old got, He'll be in his element now being able to talk about EVERY player without reproach.
Epic Swindle Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 They might surprise us and go for someone off the radar. Pardew, maybe. He'd get destroyed though. I'm no England fan but this is absurd. Absolutely f***ing hilariously mentally absurd. In what way? He was hopeless. I've just had a horrible thought; David f***ing Beckham.
Sion Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Great news for England fansGreat news for Hodgson fans
