All joking aside it is all starting to get a bit worrying. As long as they stick to drum bashing its not too bad, but having seen pictures of "mobs" attacking Britsh businesses etc on TV you do have to wonder if we are being lead into something more serious? If our press start shouting as well, rational thought may soon start to be removed from the equation......

Their is a mooted blockade of British ships in South America and the Caribbean over this also. The Islands are a lot more heavily fortified than they were 30 years ago so it would be a fairly risky operation on the Argentineans part.

I agree.

But where is all this heading? Their Government are happy stoking the fire at the moment. Not sure why (other than oil revenues of course) and what political motivation they have? Ours are unlikely to stand down over it. So where does it end? Does it fizzell out (unlikely) or do we end up with some sort of confrontation? What is their Government actually after from all this? Just Oil money?

Oil money and bragging rights, but just who they would brag to (other then their own people) is beyond me.

This planet of ours gets crazier by the day. Does any of this posturing actually gain anything? The only winners are the arms dealers and the companies who come in to clean up after the fighting.

Maybe we have a new brand of lobbyists going around the world putting war ideas into the heads of political figures.

Money probably and revenge over Britain, don't know. The Falklands Islanders rights to self determination are protected by the UN so it would be a bold move by Argentina to start military action.

Is it in homage of the actual general or the ship? Because if it's the latter I don't see any Brit would be too concerned. In fact it'll be odd for the Argies to pay homage to their flagship that was sunk without a fight.

Its more timing and context. In itself you are right, we shouldn't be too concerned. But with everything coming from their Government it feels they are using their own dead for political advantage. Really hoping this just all fizzells out.

Heaven forbid that our government should ever stoop so low.

It survived Pearl Harbor, I think it had done enough fighting.

If Argentina invades the Falklands starting a second Falklands war, which boosts the popularity of a hated Tory government and ultimately keeps them in power, I'm going to be seriously annoyed at Maxi.

I was sitting on the fence until I read this. I'm in. We'll soon wipe his big grin of his face.
