D.Boon Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 What's the point of them, its either a free kick or you're off in the modern game. No middle ground, no area where a foul goes beyond a free kick and doesn't require a sending off. Its ruining the game now as seemingly the medias obsession with controversy and a talking point has led to a situation where players and fans in grounds are screaming red for anything which in turn then puts massive pressure on the refs. Ive had texts from two separate Spurs fans wanting to know where Skrtels red was last night. Whats going on?

Yellows simply mean the FA can't ban you after the match, never been happier to see Suarez get a yellow last night. That was a 34 match ban coming up...

yellow jumper Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 gerrard executed a perfect sliding tackle on parker last night without censure. it's possible, i just think a lot of the players are s*** at it, losing heads, or using it as a last resort when there's obviously more risk.
Tosh Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 (edited) If you get a red for tackling, perhaps yellows can be reserved for dives. Like the one Bale executed infront of Agger last night. Edited February 7, 2012 by Tosh
Falconhoof Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 There's been no acknowledgement that the red card is a disproportionate distortion of the balance of a match. Players are making a tactic of trying to get the other team reduced to ten. The referee we had in the fa cup was really good, allowed things to happen without doing that early yellow card as a marker. I know it barely had a bad tackle in the game, but that would be a challenge to many refs.

I thought the ref last night was good too Webb and Atkinson are two of the worst , they try and make the games about them rather than use common sense
