Is fast becoming my favourite ref. think he has mastered controlling games without dishing the cards out and letting the players get on with it. His ego is a fraction of the size of Webb's. Dowd is good but he is full of himself too.

 

Was interested they said the other day Halsey had beaten throat cancer and got back to reffing, and his wife has or had leukaemia as well. Fair play to him - incredibly brave and I found this good article about his experience.

This was when he made his comeback in 2010 - have to say I missed this story. Apparently he was a QPR fan and told the FA that he didn't want to ref any QPR games! Hope he gets the cup final this year - he deserves it.

Havent read the story Leo, I just know he is a very lenient referee - I never go near the bookings market if he is ref

Since he came back he has been very good.

 

My worst at the mo has to be (Kevin?) Friend. So desperate to be the next Webb/Poll.

He's got my full respect for overcoming his illnesses and resuming his career however..

 

He's been very poor in my opinion, Bottled some blatant red cards, Penalty shouts etc

agree, thought he had an excellent game last week, said before the game if the ref hands out early bookings it will end up 9 a side, and he controlled the game superbly. Would say he has a good chance of reffing final as refs are only allowed to do 1,a fair few of the higher ranked (by the league not myself!) have already done a cup final. Think it will be between Dowd and Halsey as Clattenburg doing carling cup
