Toni Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) King Kenny has a huge dilemma, whether to start or bench carroll vs spurs. Both Stevie and Luis should reurn to the starting 11. Would be interestin to see whether he sticks with big Andy --------------------Reina--------------- Johnson--------Skretl---Agger------Enrique Gerrard-------Spearing----Adam----Downing ------------Suarez---------------------------- ---------------------Carroll----------------- or --------------------Reina--------------- Johnson--------Skretl---Agger------Enrique -----------------------Spearing------------------- --------------Gerrard-------Adam--------------- Suarez------------------------------------Downing -----------------Carroll----------------------- or --------------------Reina-------------------------- Johnson--------Skretl---Agger------Enrique Kuyt-------------Spearing------Adam-----------Downing ---------------------------Gerrard--------------------------- --------------------------Suarez------------------------- Considering Spurs threat form the flanks in the form of Bale and lennon, safest formation would be the last one which is to play Kuyt and leave Carrol out. However if i were Kenny, taking into account the Anfield factor, i would be tempted to go with first one, which although more attacking is still a balanced side. Bale may be weary of Gerrard' s threat on the right. Gerrard can whip early dangerous crosses from the right for Big Andy to score. Edited February 3, 2012 by Toni
honourablegeorge Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 What about Suarez? I know he'll be raring to go, but he can't be match fit.
cymrococh Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 He'll probably play Kuyt on the right to help with Bale. As Pele says, I would.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 What about Suarez? I know he'll be raring to go, but he can't be match fit.So give him 60 and Bellamy 30 but he has to start.
Rory Fitzgerald Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 A midfield trio is needed, thats the first tactic. Not sure of what team I'd pick but that must form the foundation of our approach.
cymrococh Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I'd tell our central defenders not to banjax each other at any point of the game.
Cobs Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Suarez on the bench is my guess is where my £5 would be though we don't know how he's going in training. But it's tempting to reward those who've put their hand up in the last 3 performances, which means starting Carroll, Bellogs & Kuyt. Bring him on @ 60 mins to a tumultuous reception, just in time to score our 5th of the night.

Andy-oh-six Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Got to be three in the middle. Spearing, Gerrard (if fit) and one other. I'd go with the same front three as Wolves. They all scored and played well. Dirk can help look after Bale too. Suarez coming off the bench could provide the lift if we need it. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start though but I don't think we can afford to play a proper two up front.
honourablegeorge Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 reinajohnson skrtel agger enriquegerrard adam spearingsuarez carroll bellamy I think I'd have Henderson ahead of Adam. Adam losing possession around Spurs pace on the break worry me.
David Hodgson Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Kenny will be tempted to persevere with men in form, which ordinarily would mean he'd want to start with the likes of Bellamy, Carroll, Kuyt and Downing. Adam too is improving and Henderson continues to impress. However, the temptation to bring Suarez back in will be massive and to keep Spearing in to shore up a 5 man midfield, will create a genuine selection dilemma for once. If all are fully fit (including Suarez and Gerrard), I think he goes with this : ------------------------------------Reina -Johnson------------Skrtel------------Agger-------Enrique -Kuyt-------------Gerrard-------Spearing----Adam/Henderson-----Bellamy ---------------------------------------Suarez
RBM Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Sion out of this game? Or is this not the official match thread?

It's Man U away next, which means Carroll unlikely to start again and all of a sudden you've lost the moment. I'd start AC, if he's not doing it, then great - on comes LS, the stadium goes barmy. Robert's yer Dad's brother.
psl Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Suarez and Bellamy behind Carroll. He's missed the last 9 games, f*** leaving him out of another.
fred milne Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Suarez and Bellamy behind Carroll. He's missed the last 9 games, f*** leaving him out of another.I agree.
Benzo-13 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I'd be tempted to man-mark Modric.He's coming into form.
Cooldude Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 It would be madness to drop the Big Man when he's finally running into form. Play a 4-3-3 and play Suarez and Bellers either side of him. Need 3 in central midfield coz Modric's been having a field day the past few games against us

Play a 4-3-3 and play Suarez and Bellers either side of him. Need 3 in central midfield coz Modric's been having a field day the past few games against us The worry with a formation like that is that we're narrow - you're facing Bale and Lennon (or is he injured?) out wide. Suppose it's a question of whether we look to push them back with Suarez and Bellamy.
Billy Dane Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 So after Clay's lucky win v Wolves, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon now?
schmuckdonald Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Gerrard to do a man marking job on Modric a la Silva, Spearing to mop up and then play Suarez between the lines with Kuyt and Bellamy on the flanks and Carroll up front.
psl Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 So after Clay's lucky win v Wolves, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon now? Hey, everyone laid in to me when I started a Villa thread and we were 2 up within 10 minutes or something. Give the man his chance, he's waited patiently on the bench and this is his moment.
