WALTON MP Steve Rotheram yesterday vowed to lobby for the Football Quarter at Westminster.

 

He said: "Whether people like it or not, football and politics are intrinsically linked.

 

"For me, the most important aspect is this is a great opportunity to regenerate in and around Walton.

 

"I am the only politician in the country who has two Premier League football clubs in his constituency.

 

"Walton has the sixth highest unemployment rate in the country and life expectancy is 15 years less than some leafy suburbs down south.

 

"If this concept can find its way off paper to reality, I know the community in north Liverpool and south Sefton can benefit.

 

"I will be pushing as much as I can in government circles to see if we can make this happen."
