Ombudsam Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Just seen the table. How the f*ck are we still in this? C'mon lads it's there for us. Let's show them what we're about!
Rimbeux Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Arsenal's start, Chelsea's middle. Logically Arsenal, or rather Van Persie, might be due a dip or injury. Chelsea might just click, but there is a lot going on there. We just need to score
RafaShanks Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 We just need to sort ourselves out and we'll be in contention. Spurs have a tough 6 weeks coming up in January including a visit to Anfield. Hopefully we'll get a few new faces that know what to do in front of goal. And Stevie is hopefully back for the rest of the season. We can do this!
Epic Swindle Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Gerrard is key, you add his magic and a good striker to the current lot and the foundations are there. Don't think we'll get it but there's so much football to play.
Sion Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 We get 25 points from out 9 remaining home games and its ours to lose. They key to finishing 4th is being boss at home.Unfortunately I can't see it happening.

Iver Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Buy a proven goalscorer in the January window and we have a real chance, but as it stands, I see Chelsea and Arsenal as more likely to finish above us. I think the top three places are already gone - one of three from us Arsenal and Chelsea for fourth. January window is crucial.

Swipe Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 It's the message Kenny should be relaying to the owners. We've been average at times but we are still in it. Get a few in next month and we can get on a run. Chelsea, Spurs and arsenal all to come to Anfield too.
RafaShanks Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 We play Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs all at home with only both Manc c**ts to visit. Our defence is sound where as Chelsea and Arsenals are more than suspect.
Sion Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 (edited) We get 25 points from out 9 remaining home games and its ours to lose. They key to finishing 4th is being boss at home.Unfortunately I can't see it happening. We have 10 remaining home games, not 9. My bad. So make that 27 points needed9 wins We'd be on 31 + 27 = 58 So out of the ten away games left, 4 wins would get us probable 4th. Edited December 27, 2011 by Sion
Nebraska Red Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Some post Christmas bravado here. Unless something really drastic happens and we start scoring goals and playing like we should, we'll not be in the hunt for 4th. I cannot see the owners spunking out a ton of money on new players unless we offload a few. Having watched our last few games, we are going to struggle to find any consistency until we start scoring early goals like we did at Villa. We scored early and then were able to play without pressure. Our best winning run in the league is 2 games, that's not good enough.
Sion Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Some post Christmas bravado here. Unless something really drastic happens and we start scoring goals and playing like we should, we'll not be in the hunt for 4th. Well we currently already are, so you're wrong there.
Swipe Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 (edited) Some post Christmas bravado here. No it's not. It's looking at the table and seeing that despite wasting so many games we aren't far off. And adding that if we could get our act together it's do-able. Not bravado at all. Iver Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 FSG are very intelligent businessmen - they will be fully aware of the repercussions of finishing outside the top four. You may as well finish sixteenth as fifth - the thought of the Europa league fixtures on a Thursday night turns my stomach and brings back horrible memories of Hodgson. That is why I fully expect another big spend next month - I can see Suarez bending the ear of Gaston Ramirez, and hopefully some top quality striker will be recruited too.
Billy Dane Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 and only letting 3 teams finish ahead of you. We cannot underplay this lads. Nail on head here for me.
Nebraska Red Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I hope you are all correct, but having watched us play lately, I'm dubious we can make the much needed improvements to our play and add a couple of players. I reckon Kenny needs to shake things up a bit selection wise and tactically. Who we are using, and the way we are using them, is not working at the moment. Leave the defence alone, other than maybe play Kelly instead of Johnson, but shake up the midfield and forwards.
superledger Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Just seen the table. How the f*ck are we still in this? C'mon lads it's there for us. Let's show them what we're about! It's strange to think we are within touching distance. It's probably (and sadly) more likely though that Arsenal and Chelsea will have a decent run of form before we will. I think the only positions in the current top 6 that will change by the end of the season is first and second. But I sure as hell hope that I'm wrong.
Farmer's Tan Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 i am convinced we are better than both Arsenal and Chelsea, we will get 4th if we get a goal scorer, matter of fact we will coast it with a couple of match winners.
CarraLegend Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 January window could be key, like today for Arsenal if its not Van Persie its no one, Chelsea need a quality striker and a midfielder and we need a quality striker aswell.

Swipe Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Like what I wrote but better. We are two hearts beating as one Sammya.

Hopefully Torres stays poo during the ANC or ACN or whatever it's called. I think we need a Lucas replacement as well as a striker mind. We needed one even when Lucas was fit. Not because Lucas isn't high quality but we needed to be able to replace him high quality. We are two hearts beating as one Sammya. still no news on Mayweather's dad
