Epic Swindle Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Not a kneejerk but is his time up? Not even sure he's an asset to the squad anymore.
CaptainXabi Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I think his legs have gone.Sadly true. I've seen him walking more times this year than in the previous 5 combined.
Nebraska Red Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 his lack of pace is worrying, he doesn't have the speed to get past players and his positional awareness has gone to pot. not sure what he offers ahead of someone like Shelvey, maybe he'll be the one to go when Gerrard gets back
Case Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 For me he is gone, yes. Great servant, fantastically positive player and influence when on form, dire when not. He has been THE biggest disappointment for me this season.
Epic Swindle Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 Certainly on the right anwyay. Maybe he could still chip in with a few if he were up front, but I think he lacks the mobility to feature heavily in Kenny's vision.
Cooldude Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 His legs are half gone now but the lack of goals is the biggest problem. He's getting himself into positions though, just missing them
Jim D Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Not a kneejerk but is his time up? Not even sure he's an asset to the squad anymore. He's in the same boat as Carroll, woefully short on confidence, hes only on the teamsheet because of his work ethic, it's not enough.
adiman Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Are we allowed to critisise Dirk? Best LFC player for last 5 years. Showing age and not fancied by Kenny.
Nebraska Red Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 so, what do we do with the old carthorse? put him out to stud, or send him to the glue factory?
Cooldude Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Best LFC player for last 5 years. Showing age and not fancied by Kenny. Now we know that Dirk's been a great servant but how can you expect anyone to take you seriously when you start s*** threads and say daft things like that?
Murphman Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Are we allowed to critisise Dirk? Best LFC player for last 5 years. Showing age and not fancied by Kenny. You're on the f*cking wind up. Nobody could post this much boll*cks in one night pissed or not.
Swipe Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Are we allowed to critisise Dirk? You are if you do it with a bit of respect. So that rules you out.
Ombudsam Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Yup He missed his last one too. Adam is the natural choice. We're just f*cking s*** at scoring.
Benzo-13 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Sad to see him toil out there tonight.Bit of a war hero type player for me.Looked done.
Billy Talbot Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 He missed his last one too. Adam is the natural choice. We're just f*cking s*** at scoring. Wasn't that the first one he'd ever missed for us? But you're right... The b*****d son of Pele and Kenny would be drawing blanks at the moment. Bit surprised we didn't hit the woodwork though.
JonShar Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 His legs have been done for pretty much the entire 2011 calendar year, I think it's taken most people a while to start talking about it out of respect for the guy. Quality fella, given us some great years, but unfortunately he was always going to be one of those players who didn't have a yard of pace he could afford to lose anyway, so now he's lost it he looks a bit of a liability.
_00_deathscar Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Still the least of our worries. Whilst we should be looking to bring replacements in, Dirk is someone I'd still keep over a few other glaring issues in the squad. He still has a role for me.

Leo No.8 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 (edited) Surprised Dirk isn't fitting with Kenny's style of play - always felt he looked at his best in a quick passing, fluid team which is what we are now moreso than any time over the last decade. Never going to beat defenders but he is a smart footballer who links well with those around him. At the end of the day Dirk is primarily about hard work and goals, often in big games. Like everyone else he's missing chances ATM and when you take his goals away you start wondering what he brings. He is usually a good finisher but 'missitis' seems to be catching! I still see a role for him here as a squad player. I think his relegation is more a mark of our progress as a team than anything, I don't buy the 'legs have gone' thing. Just think he's short of confidence and goals, perhaps struggling with his relegation in status and being in and out. He'll be useful to have around till the summer then maybe look at what he's worth and what we've got at that time. Certainly Bellamy should be starting ahead of him as often as possible but we have to be careful with his knees. Bellamy has been fantastic this season we look a different team when he plays. John Nada Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 He's always been someone who has to play himself into form every season after starting poorly. With not regularly starting he's just staying poor sadly.
