johngibo YPC Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 (edited) I quite like open money grabbing. At least its honest Didier Drogba has turned down a one-year contract extension at Chelsea, where his deal expires at the end of the season, according to his agent. "Didier has had the offer of a one-year extension from Chelsea," Thierno "That does not suit us. We know what we want, where we want to go and what offers we have. "AC Milan came in for Didier on loan with an option to buy but I said 'No' straight away. Their offer did not interest us. At Didier's age, he has nothing left to prove as a player. He will go where he is offered the most money. "It could be the United States, Russia, Qatar or somewhere else in Asia. Once you are well into your thirties you have to go to a club where you can be certain you'll be able to pay your bills." Edited November 29, 2011 by sutty
Redray Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Once you are well into your thirties you have to go to a club where you can be certain you'll be able to pay your bills." Roof over head, food in children's mouths etc. etc. bless him.
Rimbeux Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Well if he wants private jets for the remaining 50 years of his life, he's going to have to make the money right now.
PhilM Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Doesn't Drogba send the majority of his wages to help build schools in Africa? Or did I imagine that and he's just a disgwace?
Murphman Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 He's been wonderful for them, a thorn in our side. Proper good player is Drogba and I suspect, a proper good lad 'nall.
Raj Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I quite like open money grabbing. At least its honest Adebayor has said something similar on a couple of occasions too
Swipe Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I like him. Initially hated him like most but he's grown on me. Seems a good bloke and apparently does great things for the Ivory Coast, charity wise.

Kvarme Ate My Food Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 At Didier's age, he has nothing left to prove as a player. He will go where he is offered the most money. Yeah, I think that's fair enough to be honest.
Sion Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Its a weird attitide I reckon. Its not like he'd ever be short. Why waste your last few years in Qatar for 8m when you could be at a top club for 4m.

stressederic Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I also reckon all footballers have, at least at somepoint, given some thought to playing in a rubbish league where you're brilliant and scoring goals for fun.
matty Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 He's been wonderful for them, a thorn in our side. Proper good player is Drogba and I suspect, a proper good lad 'nall.f*ck off. He's been one of the most obnoxious whiny, moany, egotistical players of the last decade. Whatever he does for charity.

Why waste your last few years in Qatar for 8m when you could be at a top club for 4m. If the money is there to be made, why shouldn't he go there. Chances are it will be come more difficult for him to keep his standards as he ages, and getting paid more to perform at a less challenging level that he can cope with better makes sense. Why waste your last few years in Qatar for 8m when you could be at a top club for 4m. I think his attitude is fair enough, given what he has won and his age. I'd be looking to earn top money for as long as I could.
CarraLegend Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Good riddance, hopefully he makes his exit in January the horrible s***house.
Murphman Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 (edited) f*ck off. He's been one of the most obnoxious whiny, moany, egotistical players of the last decade. Whatever he does for charity. He's a Johnny Foreigner, we have a few of those too, they don't see the whinging, diving and waving imaginary yellows in the same way we do. Micheal Owen never did any of that, but I know who I'd put money on in the 'who's the most decent person' stakes between those two. Edited November 29, 2011 by Murphman
PhilM Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 He was a beast for Chelsea. It wouldn't be outlandish to call him one of the best strikers ever to play in the Premier League.

Sometimes I feel like we're getting somewhere with you, Murph. And then something like this happens.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I don't hate him like I did, probably because he's been on the wane a bit for a couple of years, that said I'll be spitting venom tonight. Hate Adebayor a million times as much though. Utter, utter c***
Earl Hafler Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 f*ck off. He's been one of the most obnoxious whiny, moany, egotistical players of the last decade. Whatever he does for charity. Completely agree Which feels a tad weird.
Des Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 (edited) Micheal Owen never did any of that He never did any diving? Seriously? Edited November 29, 2011 by Des
