my wife is a member of NASUWT, so obviously theyre going out on wednesday, however last week their union rep called a meeting to say he'd be standing down as he had far too much on in his personal life to continue and also to let them know that he wouldnt be striking as he and his wife were both teachers and couldnt afford to lose two days pay. So the members called another meeting to discuss what action to take, they decided that theyd all be going out but because they get on so well with their headmaster theyd let him know in advance how many would be taking part in the industrial action, the union rep was also there, he said they shouldnt take this action as it went against union stipulations on the matter, my wife then pointed out that it actually said they had no legal obligation to their head to let him know of numbers taking part which is different from saying not to do it, the union rep then got a bit narky with them all and said hed contact the union to say the memebers were going against the union's wishes on this matter, it was then that someone pointed out that the fact that he was not going on strike was going against the unions wishes a bit more than informing the head of numbers involved, so the union rep said right sod you im joining the UTU(who voted against the strike) you can all do what you want.
