Be amusing if it was Bellamy and he was referring to Shearer with that ex-England talisman thing.

Can't be many people in recent years could be seriously called an talismanic ex-England international.

Beckham? Sheringham?

Owen's a shout. The "didn't you use to be sombody?" retort would be more fairly aimed at him than Shearer too, perhaps?

The ex-England talisman could, conceivably, also be a reference to Gary Neville. He can probably be counted as having a vaguely 'talisman' element to United but far, far less so to England.

I may just like the idea, however, of someone asking Neville if he used to be someone.

A couple of weeks back he spoke of playing with a Balotelli/Best/DiCanio-type genius foreign player who was always up to no good but misunderstood by most. He stole the secret players' car keys after being subbed at half time and drove 200 miles home.

Three weeks back he talked of Ayre making a "rookie mistake" by picking on Bolton and was pleased clubs didn't support his 'negotiate your own foreign TV deal' idea.

Before that it was the Roman philosopher Seneca.

He's had several clubs and I think he's spoken of relegation. It's probably Roy ****ing Hodgson.

Always thought it was Danny murphy

Wasn't there something a couple of years ago about Owen and an affair ? Another player knew the girl. " "We both know the same girl and I asked her along to watch today," he said. "So what?" I replied naively. "Well, she's sitting next to his wife,"

Suggests to me that the mistress was sat next to the wife.
