Gambit Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I haven't seen the Geordies play this season, have they been any good? Pardew is doing a decent job so far considering he's lost all his best players since last season (Enrique, Barton, Carroll, Nolan).
Stevie H Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 they're playing well and doing all the simple things right. their defence is playing as a unit, their midfield has gelled quickly and demba ba is taking his chances. cabaye has settled in incredibly quickly. they lose a few to the african cup of nations though.
Cobs Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 they've won the games they should be winning Fulham, Blackburn, Wigan, Everton @ home picked up 3 decent away wins - Wolves/Sunderland/Stoke home draws with Arsenal/Spurs away draws with QPR/Villa gives you 25 points nothing amazing is it? City/ManU/Chelsea are their next 3 fixtures....

Pardew is doing a decent job so far considering he's lost all his best players since last season (Enrique, Barton, Carroll, Nolan). Tiote was their best player last season and one of the main reasons they are doing so wellAs Stevie says Cabaye has settled very well but a key is also Collocini remembering he is an international defenderAdd in Ba's goals and you're away
Raj Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Add in Ba's goals and you're away Demba Ba's goals
Cooldude Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Very organised unit. They aren't just gonna collapse like people think they do, but wonder how long they can sustain this level
Andy Mac Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Very organised unit. They aren't just gonna collapse like people think they do, but wonder how long they can sustain this level Disagree. No highter than 8th
Chili Palmer Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Very organised unit. They aren't just gonna collapse like people think they do, but wonder how long they can sustain this level I wouldn't be surprised to see them collapse, obviously they have built up alot of confidence and momentum but I can see that dissolve very quickly.
Sion Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Their players actually aren't very good. Neither is their manager. Taylor x2, Guthrie, Obertan, Simpson. Gosling....They're on a confidence high and it won't last after their next 3.
Epic Swindle Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 A lot of it is confidence and momentum but they've been very good. Got rid of the big personalities, which has helped build a team spirit and work ethic, and bought well.
Rich Gobey Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I haven't seen the Geordies play this season, have they been any good? Pardew is doing a decent job so far considering he's lost all his best players since last season (Enrique, Barton, Carroll, Nolan). They weren't his best players....
Gambit Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 They weren't his best players....Well Tiote and Guiterrez (or however his name is spelt) are also top players but the ones I mentioned were also their key players.
Billy Dane Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 They should be safe from relegation, which was probably their goal pre-season. The next 3 games will show if it is just a flash in the pan. Weren't Blackpool riding high this time last year?
Maldini Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I think they'll drop away. Cabaye's been very good but looks like he could be an Elano type who'll go missing for a while. Tiote is class, Coloccini and Gutierrez are underrated and Ba and Best have hit great form. The biggest thing is that Pardew has organised their back 4 though.
Farmer's Tan Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 i only watched them once, and that was in their last game against the blues and they were poor enough, they take their chances although in that game Everton scored an own goal and (i can't remember who) scored an absolute cracker, doubt he will score one like it again.
Falconhoof Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Every year there seems to be an underdog riding high in the table for a few months.
Epic Swindle Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) Their ground is now called the sports direct arena. Edited November 9, 2011 by Masuka
Gambit Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 Their ground is now called the sports direct arena.Bet the Geordies live that! Mike Ashley must really enjoy winding up the Newcastle fans.
Epic Swindle Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 No doubt exploiting the feel good factor surrounding their start to the season. Really knows how to get in the fans' good books that club.

Tiote is class, Coloccini and Gutierrez are underrated and Ba and Best have hit great form. The biggest thing is that Pardew has organised their back 4 though.think he's mentally tougher than that to be honest. plus lille gets pretty cold in the winter too.
Cobs Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Their ground is now called the sports direct arena.Didn't he do this a couple of years ago and everyone ignored it?
Stevie H Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Didn't he do this a couple of years ago and everyone ignored it?that was the email address one wasn't it? the sportsdirect.com@stjamespark.co.uk or whatever it was?
Gomez Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Bet the Geordies live that! Mike Ashley must really enjoy winding up the Newcastle fans. Not even making any money from it. Supposedly 'creating a market for a future naming rights deal'
schmuckdonald Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 They haven't played anyone yet. Will say that I did predict a decent season for them this Summer, though. Win.
