Ibby Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I am currently looking for a new house in the area where I live at the moment (east staffordshire) as the schools in the area are of such a good standard and the crime rate round here is pretty low too. Anyway I have had a look at a couple of houses (I am looking for 5 or 6 bed homes). My dads mate is a bit of a property developer (he owns about 10 houses on the rental market). He went with me to the 2nd viewing of a house the mrs and I really liked (a 6 bed detached home that was built 4 years ago). Anyway he saw that the house had a water meter installed by the water company to monitor water usage and therefore produce bills based on this. Due to this water meter he strongly urged us to look elsewhere and not put an offer on the house, as according to him the water bills on a 6 bed house via a meter would be extortionate. TBH I wouldn't know as again according to him they have been installed in newer homes and we currently live in a Victorian era property. Does anyone else on here have a water meter installed by the water company and are your bills that high?
