Ferguson's 25 years at Man U is getting more publicity than the Queen's jubilee did. The BBC have been particularly cringeworthy in their overzealous praise for a man who holds them in such contempt. It's like the BBC are almost thanking Ferguson for ending his boycott by giving him round the clock praise. One video on the BBC website almost made me puke with their sycophantic, gushing celebration of his 25th year in charge of the mancs. Embarrassing stuff.

 

Edit: darn, the title got f***ed up. That should be "media w***fest".

He is the greatest manager whoever lived though. It's a tragedy it took him 7 years to win his first league title and a disgrace that Paisley has won more European Cups than him. Thank God Sky and the Premier League came along and the directors at United were able to milk that gravy train for him.

Turned the radio on Five Live Thursday evening expecting some commentary from a Europa League match, instead they were doing a tribute show for the t***, radio turned off and expletive was issued.

 

Embarrassing stuff from the BBC.

The tout has just declared that not only is he the greatest manager in football ever he is the greatest in any sport in history.

Amid all the adulation, there is one quote that stands out.It comes from former chairman Martin Edwards, about the club's preparation for his planned retirement 10 years ago: "The board's choice was to go for Sven Goran Eriksson. We were a long way down the road with those negotiations when Alex changed his mind and said he wanted to stay, to the delight of everybody."

 

No, Martin. To the horror of every football fan outside Old Trafford.

 

Imagine if Eriksson had taken over, allowed the Govan ruthlessness to disappear, accommodated a team around Goldenballs, built an attack of Rolando Bianchi and Emile Heskey, frozen in the big games, and been sacked for winning nothing in three seasons.

 

Only to be replaced by Steve McClaren, who then continued a downward spiral similar to the one suffered at Old Trafford when Matt Busby retired.

 

Any United fan tempted to criticise Ferguson when he falters in the future should bear that in mind.

 

Bobby Charltons come and Eric Cantonas go, but the best signing in United's history was the man they brought down from Aberdeen.

 

That said, I'm sure every non-United fan will join me in reminding Fergie that he's 70 next month, so surely the time has come to step down and give Sven his big chance.

BBC coverage has been shocking. You could practically smell Fergusons c**k on the breath of the BBC breakfast sports presenter Mike Bushell, the last couple of days.

I just don't get this. It's a fine landmark for him and the supporters of that lot - but why are the refs and linesmen lining up in a guard of honour and joining in with the applauding of an anniversary? Did it become an official thing?

Give him a guard of honour to recognise his 25 years at OT by all means, but you don't have the match officials forming part of the guard of honour. That's just wrong.

 

Typical for an ex Manc to get the winner for him today as well...
