Sir Paul McCartney's brother and former Scaffold star Mike McCartney has unveiled two singing bins in Liverpool.

The bins on Mathew Street feature him singing the Scaffold hit Thank You Very Much, as part of a national anti-litter campaign.

The 1967 song, which was re-recorded to include the line "Thank you very much for binning your litter", plays each time the bin is used.

The novelty bins are being trialled in Liverpool and London.

Bins in London feature actress Amanda Holden saying "Yes! Do that again!" and former cricketer Phil Tufnell calling out "Howzat!"

Mike McCartney said: "It's a fun approach to a serious issue and sometimes being quirky is what is needed to make people stop and think."

He said the fact the bins sing was a "good incentive" to drop litter in them.

"I'm sure the kids will love it," he said.
