Given the full backing of the FA in respect of his appeal against the England red card. Double standards and manc favouritism all round.

He's contesting that?!!

he's asking them to not extend it to a 2 or 3 game ban i think.

it is a truly pathetic move and i hope they slap him with a 3 gamer for having the gall to try this. though he shifts a lot of official merchandise doesn't he so they'll probably throw him some leniency.

How can you expect him, or anyone else in a similar position, to take responsibility and learn from their mistakes when the FA are prepared to back his appeal for leniency?

It also undermines Capello's declaration that he will not pick Rooney again until he has served his ban.

As usual the FA needs to grow some balls and introduce standards of behaviour that are adhered to.

Do as we say, not as we do .............

"A statement on the FA website read: "West Bromwich Albion's Gabriel Tamas will begin a three match suspension with immediate effect after he accepted a charge of violent conduct."

"Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has accepted a three-match ban for violent conduct in his side's opening Premier League fixture against Newcastle at St. James' Park"

"Arsenal striker Gervinho will serve his three-match ban for violent conduct after the Football Association dismissed his appeal on Tuesday following his red card in Saturday's Premier League game at Newcastle United."

"Liverpool have decided not to contest Joe Cole's sending-off during their tumultuous encounter with Arsenal on Sunday.Cole's dismissal automatically prompted a three-match ban and having studied the video, the club have decided there is little point in contesting the charge."

After his red card, he did walk off calmly on his hind legs.

Love the press, making this the case for his match ban being only the one game

The UEFA process is different from the FA regarding red cards...

In the Premier League, the punishment for violent conduct is an automatic three-match ban.

But Uefa's policy is to suspend the player for one game, with a panel deciding on a case-by-case basis what, if any, additional punishment there should be.

A spokesman for Uefa said: "There are lots of possible sanctions going from a warning, to a big fine and three-game ban.

"The disciplinary body then, based on the referee's report, makes a decision.

"This happens pretty often but depends on the situation and also on the past of the player - if it is a first red card or not."

where the scandal lies here is if the ban remains at 1 game after the hearing!

I see Man Utd have completely destroyed the popular urban myth that they get spawny draws in cup competitions!!

Oh no. Hang on, they've drawn Aldershot.

As you were, people.

3 match ban

Arf.

Uefa with a biased against Engurland, yadda yadda yadda appeal ,appeal yadda yadda yadda.

Will show the contempt Engurland have for the group stages if they take him with a 3 game ban.

Serves the fecker right.

Any team with a chance of having one of their best players available for a euro qf would take that player. Contempt doesn't enter in to it, its common sense.

Phil Neville has claimed that a player from a different country wouldn't have been banned for one game.
