Gambit Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Luis is a sensational player but his play-acting is beginning to bug me. He doesn't need to do it. I don't think he's a serial diver which a lot of opposition fans accuse him of (certainly no worse than most) but he does exaggerate fouls and rolls around crying which I don't like. Think Kenny needs to have a word with him before there's a full scale media witch hunt against Luis - which will influence refs in not giving him any decisions.
Stevie H Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 he bit an opponent in the head and has a contract out on his life from the people of ghana and you're worried about the occasional bit of gamesmanship? some of our fans are weird.
Hieronymus Bosch Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) The sad truth is that if you don't play-act, you'll never get a decision going your way. The trick is knowing when to do it and not going overboard. Edited October 3, 2011 by mrshah
Hassony Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 He is a disgrace, I'd bench him for the united game and make an example out of him I mean, Imagine if he dives against united and gets us a penalty to win the game, will be really embarrassing for Kenny to have to go and apologize to Sir Alex Ferguson, who BTW, would never allow such disgusting behaviour from anyone at united

My objection is his reaction to fouls which is just ott.I hated it when Drogba and the like do it so I'm not going to suddenly like it or endorse it just because one of our own is doing it.
Chili Palmer Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 In a perfect world, no player would do it, but we are competing against teams that all do it so the more our players play up a bit and get decisions the better. Plus, I think this Rodwell incident has turned into a witch hunt for Suarez, when infact even a true blue knob like Graham Sharpe said that Suarez bought the foul but never tried to get the player a red card.

But thats how to win games in this day and age. If we are 5-0 up with a minute to go, yeah I would not think much of it myself, but we are in a tough, hard fought league.

He rarely did it last year when defenders were kicking the s*** outta him without any help from the officials. Officiating has to improve first

Whats the difference, really? So you don't mind 'cheating' as long as reaction isn't OTT. Bit odd that. Gerrard's penalty 'buying' is amongst the best out there. Thats ok because he goes down flat and waits for whistle rather than writhing around in agony.
The_Adder Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 He's a c***, but he is our c***. So that makes it okay by me.

As long as a single other team we consider our competitors do this and get away with it we should do our utmost to do more of it and do it better than our competitors. IMHO.
Hieronymus Bosch Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) Officiating has to improve firstYep. If you are fouled and don't go to ground, you get nowt, so the only alternative is to make the most of it. Edited October 3, 2011 by mrshah

He's a bit of a jekyl and hyde character, sweet family guy off the pitch and incredibly competitive on it, like a lot of the greats. We need CL and a competitive team to keep that fire burning mind as you know a lot of these latin lads can get their head turned by Spain and Italy. Edited October 3, 2011 by Epic Swindle
Gambit Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) I don't understand where you are coming from with this, really don't get it.What I mean is that if he falls with a minimum of contact it's not too bad. If the player gets the man and not the player then the player is entitled to go down. However he doesn't need to go down holding his leg like he's been shot or making a silly face as if he's actually in agony. That's play acting. And it looks stupid and doesn't get you an advantage, it only make a villain of the player doing it. Edited October 3, 2011 by Gambit

Didn't his missus say to him that if you were like you on the football pitch when off it, I wouldn't be with you!

Woodsyla Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 (edited) I loved his 'positioning' for the penalty, he checked out to receieve the ball from Bellamy but stopped his run so that he was just inside the area when the inevitable contact came. We need more people winning us penalties not less. This thread is s***. In fact one could argue it was a poor opening ..... gambit. Geddit. Edited October 3, 2011 by Woodsyla
