"Rogue traders"

It seems they only receive the designation "rogue" when they somehow gamble away the equivalent of the GDP of an African state.

 

Can someone explain in what way their everyday roguery i.e. when they are presumably winning as opposed to losing vast sums for their masters, benefits the rest of us? Are we missing something? Would the sky fall in or even more African children starve if there was never again a single ETF transaction? This is a search after knowledge.
