Yes it sucks to lose against Spurs. Yes it's now two in a row. But, seriously, we are five games into a new season with a brand new team. Perspective folks. This season should be about that all important fourth place. Forget top three and focus on fourth. And in that race we are still okay going.

It is going to take time. These players need to grow as a team. Kenny must analyse and react accordingly. Now he knows that Carra is all but done and that Adam is not as good as he wants him to be. Also never ever play a central defender at fullback and really please not against a good winger.

We will lose more games but we really need to take it easy the next coming weeks. This will take time. That's all...

Kenny's idea of our best starting XI probably needs a lot of altering after that display. Lucas Adam and Henderson in your midfield will guarantee you'll get outrun and outworked against better sides.

To an extent that's more to do with the available players rather than what is assumed to be the preferred 'starting XI' though isn't it?

Eh? Lucas and Henderson probably do more running than most players put together. Granted neither are technically that great but you can't say they'll get out run/worked!!! Adam I agree with and Henderson needs to be dropped but for different reasons certainly not his workrate

Possibly, but we can argue that Kuyt, Bellamy or even Spearing are better choices to start than some of our current ones, at least in away games. They're all fit for today, although I had no problems with the starting XI today myself, just that maybe we learn a few things about some of the new players today. Maybe the setup we have today doesn't cut it against better teams with better midfields

Some selections are forced such as Skrtel at right back, nothing much Kenny could've done considering the amount of injuries to our right backs.

DEfence is key come january and where is the pace in midfield?

Defence is most definitely the Key in January, Agger for as good as he is needs selling, too injury prone. Carragher is the big one though, will Dalglish have the balls to replace him, he is a spent force now and we need to be getting a top proven CB. Seen a clip of Carra a few weeks ago saying how happy he was with all the new signings as long as none of them are in his position! Ok it was probably a bit tongue in cheek but it felt like he really meant it.

right, can everyone calm the f*** down please. this place is ridiculous.

we're 5 games in. the immediate aim this season is to get champions league football.

the teams we have to beat to get that are Spurs and Arsenal.

we have now been away to both Spurs and Arsenal. we are 4 points ahead of Arsenal and 1 point ahead of spurs. We have still got our best player to come back into the team. out of the 5 games we have played in the league this season we have played badly in 1. we lost 4-0. but we went down to 9 players having been 1 down.

a win against wolves next week gives us 10 points from 6 games. not great, but not horrific either. its certainly not time to panic

Hear hear. Also worth remembering we played with 9 men for 25 minutes.

What is slightly worrying for me is that we've already had three poor results out of five. Only the Arsenal result stands out and they're f***ing s*** now anyway. So the start hasn't been ok or average, it's been poor.

Maybe we aren't quite as good as we thought yet.

Yep. Shocking today, but ...

Stevie, Johnson and Kelly all missing and to come back.

Three hard away games out of the way - if we'd had three away draws against those teams not TOO many would have been complaining.

We need to get the attitude right in the dressing room before a game though - and at HT. Really poor in that regard today.

Its fine to talk about not knee jerking, about injuries and that players and systems need time to bed in but the whole point of this transfer window was to strengthen the squad and the whole point about paying a premium for bringing in british players is that they would be familiar with the league and would hit the ground running to an extent

Well we hit the ground ok its the running bit that is a bit of a disappointment, but Spurs are still a very good team particularly at WHL and so its difficult to really draw any purposeful conclusions.

What is clear is that Dalglish and Clarke have a lot to work on over the next couple of weeks
