i have been working for my present company for 4 years 9 months on a 42.5 hrs week contract, however i have been working 48 hrs a week for the last 2.5 years (more before that) now the company wants to reduce our hours (not sure by how many yet) by the end of this month,

is there a minimum time they must give me before they introduce this?

can they just inform me or does it need to be negotiated?

can i appeal as my normal working practice has been 48 hrs? does this constitute a contract?
