I've reached a horrendous conclusion.

That, if given a choice between City and United, for any form of silverware this season - I'd actually prefer United to win.

It's a disgusting thought, and if the eventuality did occur, I'd probably bury my head in the sand and ignore it.

However, I just feel that a piece of silverware or acclaim should be earned. If United won anything, at least it'd be earned. It might pain me to say it, but Ferguson has built the side up time and time again. It'd be down to hard work and skill. I might not like it, but I'd have to grudgingly accept it.

City, on the other hand, have literally spent millions, near enough a billion - all on a vanity project. By some foreigner who is, in my opinion, attacking a culturally significant part of this country. Who has been there, what, once? Twice?

What they have, they've not earnt. It's the equivalent of doping in athletics. In taking what they have naturally got, and boosted their chances using "resources" beyond those of their rivals.

I can't stomach it, the sheer exhibition of wealth disgusts me.

It's been that long since we won the title, but if we were ever to do it in a manner similar to how they've done it (as it's surely only a matter of time)- I'd be embarrassed to celebrate.

You want to win things fairly and squarely, that's sport.

Where's the joy in winning if you've "cheated"?

I haven't really come across the same level of resentment towards them by other people yet, but every game I want them to lose. Every time I read a match report marvelling at their "football", or talking about Mancini and City's "achievement", it makes me livid.

The Mancs I've learned over the years to cope with, hating them, maybe even learn to respect- because they've EARNT it. Like we did.

The thing is, it's already happened, at Chelsea. I'm kind of used to the idea now, and although I don't like it, I'm no longer angry or digsuted.

Anyway, it's City, they'll find a way to f*** it up soon enough.

Not really bothered who wins it anymore, we should be setting our own targets. The mancs have bought success aswell, we all have, though obviously not on the scale of City and Chelsea, but I doubt their fans are complaining that they're not doing it the right way.

i'm pretty immune to it now too. money rules football. fifa loves money. top clubs are businesses not football teams.

disagree with this though. they've so much quality and they'll still probably sign two top players in january as well.

Three times a lady...

But seriously now, what's all that about? Foreigners attacking culturally whatchacallits? They'll be buying bloody Harrods next!

I don't care if Man City were managed by Roy Hodgson with Fred West as his assistant, bankrolled with money from Al-Qaeda.

I'd still want them to win.

I'm not saying the team will f*** up. they'll do very well.

but this whole new City edifice will collapse within a few years.

yeah? what makes you say that? chelsea's hasn't and city are probably better set for long-term sustainability than chelsea are.

Life has backfired a bit on Tevez hasn't it? Wish my life had backfired that much though! :)

Where Man City have really come on, is in the final third with the additions of Silva, Aguero and Nasri. Tevez too, but he doesn't look too interested. Their back two thirds is not all that, but the attack will carry them a long way where in the Premier they look like Barca [vs Wigan] and looked much less versus Napoli.

I have a problem with it.

Football is a part of our cultural heritage, and I believe this is an attack on it.

The fact that they're "foreigners" is relevant in that I don't believe they understand it's importance to a number of people in this country, in the same way that somebody from the UK does.

I think there's clear evidence of this in the actions of H&G when they were here, in their total ignorance of the club, the city and the culture here.

Not necessarily relevant to Harrods, as who really cares about a shop - but millions care about English football, both within England and without.

would you send all the foreign players back home out of interest? i'm not being pissy here by the way, i just don't see how you really stop it. or really why you would, so long as they're responsible owners.

Surely they aren't "responsible owners" though? That's exactly the point.

They aren't being responsible in terms of the benefit of the game, and you can argue that they aren't being responsible in terms of the club - in the long term.

Not when their wage bill is significantly higher than their turnover.

What kind of business is run on that basis?

In my opinion, that's totally f*cking irresponsible.

I dunno about all that, these days it's as much a part of anywhere else's cultural heritage. They may well intend to be involved long term, and I don't blame them for not investing in boss squads of falcons and flying them about like Emaratis of old.

If it was some huge multi-billionaire from Stockport the same arguments against what they are doing would still apply. Where they are from is hardly relevant imo unless they are deliberately destabilising the club. Then it becomes a moral issue.

Do you not think that the fact that H&G were in America had a direct impact on the running of the club whilst they were in charge, for example?

I think it was very important, certainly in terms of their lack of understanding of the club, and also in terms of allowing them to distance themselves from the protests etc. That's why the internet campaign was so important, because it made the protests global.

I reckon there's a big difference between some huge multi-billionaire from Stockport (who is at least likely to attend the f*cking game, and more likely to understand the people who do) than some filthily rich, disgustingly wealthy Arab (how many games does he even go to?).

I wish they would invest in really boss falcons.

Is it this lot that run the Gudolphin stable of horses?

Just me then....

i would hope for a city european cup and league double if it meant that whiskey nosed c*nt didnt win any more trophies.

f***ing right.

City could do a clean sweep for the next 5 years rather than the other Mancs win anything

Perhaps my concern is self-serving.

If United carry on like this, and we manage ourselves well, I think we could compete properly in 1/2 years, if not already.

If City carry on like this, I don't think we can.

They'll always drop points. It'll always be possible to finish above them.
