Cobs Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I remember hearing (from a non-blueschite source) that's what we did with Fowler back in the 90s when we said he did his cruciate
Atticus Finch Posted September 12, 2011 Author Posted September 12, 2011 Lots of criticism of the testing regime and how poor it is. Also highlighted use of weird supplements by that german doctor and chelsea Richard sadlier on record that millwall supplied banned substances to him, probably unknowingly
magic melia Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 We're in the clear so far. We had one no show , So test abandoned
kop205 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I remember hearing (from a non-blueschite source) that's what we did with Fowler back in the 90s when we said he did his cruciate Didn't he do that in a collision with their keeper and was stretchered off? Surely if it was fake injury it would have been a training ground one, immediately after the test came to light. Not saying it is beyond the realms of possibility, just that it doesn't quite add up. It wasn't just the blues**** who loved/love spreading rumours about our players without giving a f*** whether they were true, either - you only need to look at the Carroll thread to see we are quite happy to do it ourselves.
Cobs Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 He walked off the pitch. It may well have all been bullschit but the person who told me wasn't prone to making stuff up and certainly had no axe to grind with Fowler/LFC
Chili Palmer Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 He walked off the pitch. It may well have all been bullschit but the person who told me wasn't prone to making stuff up and certainly had no axe to grind with Fowler/LFC I thought that injury was pretty obvious, he landed horribly after jumping with the keeper. (not saying the lads lying, it may just have been good timing)
Cobs Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Don't think he wasn't injured but he did walk off the pitch ( I saw this again a few weeks back on ESPN or LFCTV, can't remember which) Story he told me (this was at the time not years after the event) was that Fowler had failed a drugs test for cannabis and the cruciate story was a cover up. Wouldnt really surprise me if it were true tbh. We've all heard the classic Giggs/Sharpe drugs stories from around that time.

If I remember correctly he came back on, tried to run for about 10 seconds and then limped off, heavily
Boca Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 You can walk fine in a straight line after doing your cruciate. It's when you try to turn that's the problem.
aka Dus Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 You can walk fine in a straight line after doing your cruciate. It's when you try to turn that's the problem. Henry Shefflin in last year's All Ireland. A week in the cryotherapy unit in Wexford isn't going to fix that.
Boca Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Henry Shefflin in last year's All Ireland. A week in the cryotherapy unit in Wexford isn't going to fix that. Yeah he had no trouble running until he had to make a sharp turn and it went again. He's some man to come back from two of them though whatever the hell they're feeding them in Kilkenny.
floyd Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I demand to have a top class international name (cough Rio)

Another true story.

Another true story. wow, just imagine the literally minutes of elvis-based fun that must have ensued that day. when he passed the ball backwards to his centre halves i hope someone shouted that it was a return to senderos.

The walters step over Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) Woeful programme. To me it looked like a Chris Morris p*ss take at times, it could easily have been boiled down to a five minute slot on the news instead of stretching some very thin material across a whole hour. "We have the names of footballers who missed tests... we can't tell you who they are, but keep watching the programme just in case" Edited September 14, 2011 by The walters step over
kop205 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) It may well have all been bullschit but the person who told me wasn't prone to making stuff up and certainly had no axe to grind with Fowler/LFC He wouldn't need to though would he? People love a good rumour, especially if it is one that they've heard before their mates. As I say, anything is possible but stories like the one you referred to don't really do much to bring more suspicion on Fowler, for the reasons I've stated. It just doesn't quite add up - not least because we all saw with our own eyes that Fowler was a diminshed force after that lay-off, which is far more consistent with a cruciate injury than with having dabbled in a bit of pot or coke.
