I'm toying with the idea of getting a scooter for the short commute to work every day. I've never owned or driven a bike with any sort of engine and don't want to spend a lot of money as the whole idea is to save on the extortionate public transport.

 

I'd be doing 25 miles a day, mostly on a dual carriageway with speed limit 60mph. Where do I start? Is 50cc too small for anything other tootling around the town? Various models on gumtree for as little as £300. What should I look for? What is "high mileage" for such a vehicle? Any particular good models? I haven't a scooby.

 

Any advice much appreciated.
