Montse Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Back to footy! Hmm could be interesting this, first game for their new boys, but at their place which is never a good hunting ground for us Reckon Big Andy will fancy terrorising their defense
Murphman Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Wonder if Coates will get a start. Be great watching him smash Crouchy all around the park.
Montse Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Nah, reckon he will take his bow at the Amex
Flight Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We're going to batter these. Will seem like a home game not an away.
schmuckdonald Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Our away's at Stoke are normally televised, companies must have cottoned on to the fact the games are invariably s***. Going to be difficult, will take a draw.
The_Adder Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I reckon we can finally do these, why do I feel confident? SUAREZ. With Bellamy coming off the bench to rip them in the last 20.
Kring Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Crouch at Stoke looks like the perfect match....This is going to be one of the hardest places to go all season.....
Falconhoof Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I can't wait to see Bellamy and Carroll. Think they could thrive off each other
CarraLegend Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We'll get battered with our s****, small squad. This was the sort of physical challenge Meireles thrived on.
Benzo-13 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Take Delap out early and lead them a merry dance.
Montse Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Delap has a hammy strain so not sure if he will be back for this
Kahnee Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We'll get battered with our s****, small squad. This was the sort of physical challenge Meireles thrived on.
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Wonder if Coates will get a start. Be great watching him smash Crouchy all around the park.this will be the one game in history where Crouch gets everything given in his favour And it's your fault Murph
yellow jumper Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) concern would be that we defend too deep and invite pressure in an area from which they are equipped to profit. easier said than done but i'd try to reduce dangerous set piece opportunity by defending as high as possible, be aware of threat behind from wings (pace at full back important), don't miss opportunity to bully pennant and ethrington, press their back four as they lack a quality out ball, more you can isolate whelan, jones and walters (or crouch and jerome) the better, DM must be disciplined (second balls critical), squeeze area between our defence and midfield, keep it at all costs when you get it, take opportunities to break quickly if game ever becomes stretched. might mean the extra man in midfield. although you could play a variation of a front 3, with 2 of downing, bellamy, suarez or kuyt working hard as the wide forwards. they have weakness at left back. and to the dribble generally. think players off the bench will be important. can hurt them with pace and movement last 20 (especially if they are chasing game). would have maxi there also. could see him popping up late on. MarkD Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Score first and early, pass them to death, score 2nd early in second half, pass them to death. 3pts. Next.
Nate. Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Loads more pace in the team to worry them now. I'd even be tempted to start Luis and Bellamy, along with Downing etc. Actually give them the run around. There's no way they can hadle that type of movement up front. If we get into a battle with them however we would be in trouble. Force our game on them and we'll be fine.
mrjunk Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Quick off the blocks, high tempo pass and move. Make them dizzy.
mally Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) Lets batter these clay-headed c****. Edited September 1, 2011 by mally
charlie clown Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 We'll get battered with our s****, small squad. This was the sort of physical challenge Meireles thrived on. That's what I was thinking before we played Wolves away last season and we bossed them. Kenny adds 2 feet, 10 yards and 2 stone to all of our players. So who's going?
Damian_de Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) Might see 3 at the back for this one. Bet they train it with Coates and have a look to see if it could work. Edited September 1, 2011 by Damian_de
Sion Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Knowing our luck their new non-goalscoring strikers are bound to have an Arshavin-style new team bounce and score. So hopefully we can score more. #positivity
Joppo Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Might see 3 at the back for this one. Bet they train it with Coates and have a look to see if it could work. Based on your 3 at the back possibililty. Reina Carra Coates Agger Kelly Enrique Lucas Adam Suarez Downing AC .... and a bench of: DoniKuytHendersonBellamyMaxiShelveySpearing BTW, is Kelly or Johnson fit?
Case Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Coates won't play in this game. Skrtel might though.
The_Adder Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Based on your 3 at the back possibililty. Reina Carra Coates Agger Kelly Enrique Lucas Adam Suarez Downing AC .... and a bench of: DoniKuytHendersonBellamyMaxiShelveySpearing BTW, is Kelly or Johnson fit? Looks good that, we completely outplayed them with that system last season, it looked like we had four CMs out there! Looks great that, I'd have Srktel on the bench instead of Spearing and possibly... Gerrard on the bench instead of Shelvey. What a bench that will be!
schmuckdonald Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Given Kenny's wanting to play players who perform well, I can see Skrtel getting a game. Agree that we could play three at the back as well, but depends on Kelly/Johnson being fit.
