floyd the barber Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 After spending massive amounts of money, plus adding players to support and supply him with the kinda crosses he thrives on....we really do look a far better team with Carroll not in the side.Last season when yes we was injured, we looked awesome with a front 3 with either kuyt and maxi either side..when Carroll did appear we looked slow in attack with a lack of movement.....this season and again we look better with Suarez with kuyt ,henderson and downing assisting. Now yes early days still for Carroll but he doesnt look anywhere close to be being match fit. He came off the bench today and really was dissapointing, lack of movement..slow with the ball at feet and no real desire to get in on the end of some fantastic balls by Downing.Right now, hes gotta work harder on his fitness and slowly get him integrated into the side, theres definete talent there...he just has to buckle down and start working in training, cos my right now our best 11 doesnt include him.(at least in my opinion..obviously )
Epic Swindle Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 There is no dilema, he's part of a cracking squad.
John am Rhein Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 his day will comefor now we're doing fine (last minute clean sheet destroying f*ck ups aside)
Kring Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 There is no dilema, he's part of a cracking squad. 35 million wasted......
RBM Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 The problem is not really with Carroll, but with what happens to the rest of the side and the way we suddenly revert to route one, when he's on the pitch. He's an easy option for many, and it needs knocking out if them. He's actually good with the ball at his feet, he just keeps getting isolated by s*** long balls played early to him. The reason why we look better when he hasn't played is because the easy option is removed and everybody has to think about what they're going to do withthe ball.
Ethan Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 There is no dilema, he's part of a cracking squad. Exactly - people are turning against him way too soon I think there is more conditioning work needed with him and we will see what we paid for in spades
alias75 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 (edited) Start him away from home when we need an outlet, play him off the bench most games at Anfield. Edited August 27, 2011 by alias75
madaboutlfc Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 he lacks the desire for me to get beyond the last man
John am Rhein Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 route one should be Plan B not Plan A, but having someone like Carroll (or Crouch) around makes it a viable option
Epic Swindle Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Exactly - people are turning against him way too soon I think there is more conditioning work needed with him and we will see what we paid for in spades After a good win there's has to be a scapegoat. I'm just going to get pissed and enjoy the rest of the footy.
RBM Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Too many supporters desperate to complain about something and have a scapegoat.
surf Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 he gives us another option. it's good to have options oh, and we're top
Falconhoof Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 brilliant, Adam and henderson had a good game so now the entire forum can really focus on moaning about Carroll. I just can't wait for the first defeat, its what the internet was invented for.
Jim D Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 he gives us another option. it's good to have options oh, and we're top Exactly, who remembers the names on the team sheet and bench last season, it was rank. Now look at today what a complete contrast, Coates and possibly Bellamy to come.
surf Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 i'm just annoyed i cant get a scapecoates joke in yet
madaboutlfc Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 he gives us another option. it's good to have optionshe shouldnt be just an option but the option.. He has been nothing like he was at Newcastle last season. He looks a bit slower as well than last season
Metro Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 The only gripe I had was that we had some great balls swung into the middle from the left in the secondhalf and no-one anywhere near them.
Crazy Horse Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 he lacks the desire for me to get beyond the last man Why should he care who you get beyond?
Drexl Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 The problem is not really with Carroll, but with what happens to the rest of the side and the way we suddenly revert to route one, when he's on the pitch. The reason why we look better when he hasn't played is because the easy option is removed and everybody has to think about what they're going to do withthe ball.Carolls "problem" is that both Dirk and Luis are extremely hard-working and excellent off the ball. Don't think any striker in the PL are better than those two in that aspect. Any other striker will look static and slow in comparison. Andy Carroll is an excellent option and a huge talent, but I'm ok with him not being 1st choice right now.
Andy-oh-six Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 At the moment he doesn't deserve to be in the team. His time will come though.
Sion Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I've made peace with Carroll now. I'm pretending we swapped Suarez for Torres and Carroll just appeared one day at Melwood and started playing.
Doyler3000 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I've made peace with Carroll now. I'm pretending we swapped Suarez for Torres and Carroll just appeared one day at Melwood and started playing. Ha Ha - great way to look at it. And Torres still can't score!
David Hodgson Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 brilliant, Adam and henderson had a good game so now the entire forum can really focus on moaning about Carroll. I just can't wait for the first defeat, its what the internet was invented for. It's such a load of toss isn't it. When things are good, just enjoy it. I remember in that 87/88 season people trying to scapegoat Houghton. It was laughable. He was fantastic in a fantastic team.
Kring Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Too many supporters desperate to complain about something and have a scapegoat. scapegoat?? For what?
Reds_Will_Be_Reds Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Andy Carroll will come good in the end - as long as his attitude stays intact. He looks frustrated with himself and pretty fragile BUT the boy has f***loads of ability - and that's where Kennys influence will bring him around. Like I say, he"ll come good.
