Mick_G Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Every time i mention to 'reds' in work that Gerrard will be back soon i'm met with doubtful looks raised eyebrows or hhmmm,, yeah ....... why? I know he's Kuyt age and won't ever be the maurading midfielder of old but ffs he could still fill the boots of over half the positions within our team and be world class for the next couple of years.... I guess i'm asking, has everyone made their minds up that he's crocked for good and won't be back ? Thats the impression i get from most non-match going reds i've spoken to this season Personally i think he'll be back and will make a massive contribution as always .
Cobs Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 He'll captain the team to the title this year in epic fashion, it's written in the stars.
Epic Swindle Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Get these internationals out of the way and I think we'll see him bacK. Maybe off the bench away to Stoke, not a bad sub.
Mick_G Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Just read that post back, gotta give myself a 10/10 for use of emoticons....... Anyway.. defo... it's Ste Gerrard, he's class will push us on no end.... who's making way for him in the 1st team though? I think either Adam or Henderson. He'll captain the team to the title this year in epic fashion, it's written in the stars. Go' ed !
John Nada Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I hope it's not the case but I get the feeling he won't come back as the player we know. However, when he eventually re-invents his game that could be a good thing.

Row47 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 This. Is it based on his age and injuries? I've a feeling Kenny is gonna lash him on the right though...From someone i go to the games with that knows him he is targetting Stoke or Spurs as he has started ball work this week!
allawee Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 He'll captain the team to the title this year in epic fashion, it's written in the stars. How I would love that
Nate. Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Any chance Stevie will be on our next team sheet?
CarraLegend Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Hopefully but I'd say Brighton would be most realistic if he's expected in training soon, he's had no pre season or anything.
Benzo-13 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Right Stevie lad.. Let's be having you back now! Hopefully the 2008-09 model (when fit..)
DecidedByPoll Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 My wife saw him in Costa in Formby yesterday. She said that asking him how his groin felt was a little too suggestive.
alias75 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Lots of differing stories doing the rounds, the injury he did have was a very serious one, ive been told for a normal person to have the type of groin injury he had would usually take around 18 months to recover from. Because he's a fit athlete he can heal in about 6 months but that still means he might not be ready to play again until November and who knows how effective he'll be?? His groin was basically off the bone and because he took injections and played through the pain for us so many times it was a pretty serious injury. Hopefully he decides to call it quits for England so he can finish here on a high if any player deserves it its Stevie. I don't think we'll ever see the box to box, roy of the rovers type player we all love but there's no reason why he can't reinvent himself and become a top quality midfielder that sits more. I bet he can't wait to play with Suarez etc... and hopefully he comes back soon.
Swagger Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Surely the staff are confident he should be back soon else the club would not have let Raul go.
Chili Palmer Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 My wife saw him in Costa in Formby yesterday. She said that asking him how his groin felt was a little too suggestive. My wife would have no such problem...
Clay Davis Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Loved Bellamy talking about Stevie - even when he just does a 5 yard pass its 'the best 5 yard pass you'll ever see'. Even a Gerrard at 70% is better than most midfielders in the country. I reckon he'll come back fighting though - can't f***ing wait. Even having him on the bench at Stoke would give everyone a lift.
ManxRed Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 My wife would have no such problem... My missus would have just gone up and felt it for him.
drdooom Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Doesn't it feel great though that we now seem to have a team and squad that can play so well without him that we can view his return as a bonus instead of viewing his absence as a disaster? Can only be good for him too, doesn't really feel like there's any need to rush him back at the moment. Let him take the time he needs to heal properly.

We really are a lot stronger now.

That was more in the media thoughWe've always done alright without gerrard, although you'd obviously rather have him in the team
