madaboutlfc Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 hypothetical question for people who have seen Kennys first era. Is there any chance that Kenny would drop Carra and change his role in the team unlike Benitez who seemed to be a Carra plus one another regardless of the form

Swipe Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Nowt to do with Carra being mostly brilliant under Rafa then?

Is there any chance that Kenny would drop Carra and change his role in the team unlike Benitez who seemed to be a Carra plus one another regardless of the form Of course he f***ing would if he thought it was for the best. Good grief. And on the second bit, yeah what a c***!! Benitez always picked Gerrard aswell the prick.
madaboutlfc Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 Nowt to do with Carra being mostly brilliant under Rafa then?haha.. way to go.. he was brilliant for a long time but in the last season he should not have been first choice and a better player be bought and replace carra with
Swipe Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 He was defo on the slide in that last season, yeah. But Rafa was clearly trying to get a centre half. Your ascertion that Benitez chose Carra plus one regardless of form is a bit misleading really. I'm sure Kenny will drop him if needed. If we get Cahill you'd imagine he and Agger would play together a fair bit.

Drexl Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Turner and Shawcross wasn't it?Yeah, remember Shawcross. We also mostly believed that Agger/Skrtel was going to be the CB pairing for the next ten years.
lfc4eva99 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I think our biggest error at the time was letting Sami go, we could have used him a lot more than we did.
Jim D Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I think the 2nd half told us alot about Carra's future role in the squad, I don't think he's first choice anymore if we get someone else in. Kenny has a mighty tough decision to make if he wants his team to go forward. Shanks and Paisley had to make these tough decisions all the time, telling players in the twilight of their careers that their time was up.
Nate. Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Wish people would stop going on about dropping Carra. Kenny is never going to do that this season no matter who comes in.
lfc003 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Wish people would stop going on about dropping Carra. Kenny is never going to do that this season no matter who comes in. For emphasis
Swipe Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Wish people would stop going on about dropping Carra. Kenny is never going to do that this season no matter who comes in. Nonsense.
Swipe Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 So you believe he will then? if Carra continues to look sloppy and KD doesn't then he won't be doing his job probably. And I don't believe Kenny won't do his job properly. He's been brutal in the past when dropping players.
Nate. Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 He replaced Hansen, he'll replace CarraOf course. Just don't think it'll happen yet barring Carra playing terribly.
Jim D Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 (edited) Wish people would stop going on about dropping Carra. Kenny is never going to do that this season no matter who comes in. Kenny will do it, if he thinks its best for the team in terms of playing a higher line, that's how Kenny's teams have always played. Carragher's age combined with lack of pace says to me he'll no longer be first choice at the back. Kenny knows this, its one of the most important aspects of winning the league in England. You've got to take the game to teams, crush the opposition, pass and move. The only way we can achieve this is by squeezing the play which in turn means playing a higher line. We can't do that with Carragher in the team. Just look at the title winners over the past 10-15 years, their first choice centre backs have pace. Don't get me started on his distribution from the back which is also another crucial element in how the King plays. Edited August 13, 2011 by Jim D
RazorUK Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 (edited) Everything points to us signing a new defender. Every player he's signed bar Doni has been purchased to improve on what we have(he is better than our other backup keeper though!). I don't see that changing with the central defender. If we can see Carra is declining, you can be sure Kenny can, and he will make the difficult call. I have no doubt. Edited August 13, 2011 by RazorUK
Morgul Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Of course. Just don't think it'll happen yet barring Carra playing terribly. Although he wasn't terrible we need him to play better than he did today if we want to end up where we want to in the table. Personally I think we need a quicker and more composed defender in there alongside Agger sooner rather than later.
Jim D Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 He replaced Hansen, he'll replace Carra Exactly, I'm not saying that Carra should be pushed out of the club far from it but I feel it's time he took on more of a squad role and less of a first team role ala Sami. The rumours of Cahill being snapped up tells you a lot I think.
Epic Swindle Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 He's been on the decline for ages, needs to be done. He'll be great against Arsenal next week when we're sat deep and it's backs to the wall but that approach doesn't work against the weaker sides, you have to take more risks, which is impossible with his wooden legs. Less said about his distribution the better, hop, skip and punt.
Nate. Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Wonder how solid the Cahill stuff is? Hopefully it'll be done soon.
