on ITV1 tonight (Friday 5th of August) at 9pm there is a program focusing on the murder of Lancashire nurse Jane Clough who was badly let down by the justice system in this country.

She was murdered by her former partner who was out on bail despite having been charged with numerous counts of rape and assault against her. Jane was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend who's life was brutally ended by a monster but the fact he was free to kill Jane was down to the Judge who freed him despite strong warnings from the Police and CPS that he was likely to approach Jane.

Her family and friends want to change the law so that the Police and CPS can challenge bail where they believe the Judge has got it wrong. They are petitioning to add an amendment to the Bail Bill which has had one reading and is back before Parliament on January 20th 2012.

Please read and sign this petition - it is an awful story but a change in the law that may protect other victims will bring some comfort to Jane's family and friends.
