The season previewzzzzzzz

Celtic - last season 2 - this season 1

Rangers - 1-2

hearts - 3-3

Dundee U - 4-4

Aberdeen 9-5

Motherwell 6-6

St Johnstone 8-7

Hibs 10-8

Dunfermilne - Promoted - 9

St Mirren 11-10

Inverness - 7-11

Killy - 5-12

If that's even close to accurate (probably), it'll be a fascinating season, maybe they should predict scores - last season 4-1, this season 3-0...

Scottish football and fascinating should not be used in the same sentence.

Its pish , they play all season then one of the bigot brothers win the league end of discussion.

Season starts today, and breaks off next week for Pre season friendlies. Almost as bad as the team finishing 7th last year having more points than the team that finished 5th.

they should just give Rangers and Celtic 2 points for a win and everyone else 3, make it a bit more interesting. its a grim standard up there, the Old Firm would struggle in the championship, some of the s***tier teams are probably league 2 standard

Apparently is was because the bigot brothers had made arrangements for "glamour" friendlies and the SPL didn't want the hassle of telling them they could not play or the toys might have come out the pram.

They will not get away with it next year.... unless they have made prior arrangements off course.

After Celtic being beaten at home by St. Johnstone at the weekend, as one of the top 2, can we expect Hearts, a far worse team, to keep the aggregate score under 10 against Spurs today?

I reckon a 13-1 agg win is a go-er.

Shamrock Rovers have gone into Extra Time away at Partizan Belgrade (2-2 on agg). Irish football must be on a par with Scottish football at this stage.

No Scottish sides in Europe on Sep 1 for the first time since competition began in 1955. Doesn't look to be much chance of an upturn in fortune on the way either.

I haven't got any sympathy. There has been a 20 year abdication of any real responsibility in Scottish football, aimlessly trying to parrot the English league, tying themselves to the myth of the Glasgow clubs mass appeal and importing s*** players to some kind of mini me Premiership and producing zero world class players. All the while the Glasgow clubs went deeper into debt trying to show how big they were and how they were needed in the PL, casually missing how successful it was without them. This has to be a wake up call if there were not enough before. Stop looking at the PL and saying the problems are all about not having the same amount of money and focus on what is possible within reason, youth development, coaching development, running to budget.

i think they will have to seriously consider moving the league to play through the summer, and try and get more revenue that way by not competing all season with the English leagues

Rangers should just play Celtic 38 times a season, sell their own TV rights to that and let the rest of the league carry on without them

That would be dangerous for relations for the Old Firm, though. As they say - familiarity breeds contempt.

Strong merit in this idea, I think.

Also think the N Irish leagues would benefit from this. f*** all competing with the English leagues. The pubs round here are busy as f*** at 3pm on a Saturday with people watching dodgy streams of Premier League games. Move to play through the summer and you can generate interest for those months and hopefully get a decent percentage to stick around whenever the 'main' leagues start up.

the Irish league should have done this years ago. the amount of junior fooball played on saturday afternoons through the season kills it too.

Playing summer soccer has finally paid off for the Airtricity League - European results have got better year on year, culminating with Shamrock Rovers qualifying for group stages of Europa League
