He's retired.

Taking on a "Football Development Executive" role at City.

What a player he was. One of the few who could both handle and even intimidate Keane at his peak.

Forgot about that dive!

He could be a right nasty prick at times but one you'd have in your team every time.

His partnership with Petit was immense.

Hard pushed to find a 2-1 with three better goals than that match. Special.

Never forget Campbell and Vieiras faces at the end :D - Like the biggest FFS Ever

EDIT: Just noticed watching back that Didi does an Arbeloa and launches himself on top of his celebrating team mates. I love Didi. And Alf for that matter.

Manchester City prepare to unveil next stage of their grand plan

Manchester City will reveal their plans for a new state-of-the-art training facility on Monday.

City sent a specialist team to conduct an 18-month feasibility study of the best facilities from a wide array of sports around the world before drawing up their ambitious designs.

It is thought the proposals — which form part of the £400 million sponsorship partnership the club struck with Etihad, the Abu Dhabi airline — will be influenced in part by Nike’s renowned world headquarters in Beaverton, Portland.

The 80-acre site in Openshaw West — across from the newly named Etihad Stadium — is ten times the size of City’s present Carrington training base and will involve the first team and academy, who are based at Platt Lane in Moss Side, being relocated under one roof. Etihad is also likely to have some sort of base on the development, which would extend beyond merely being a training campus for the club.

City are eager to gauge the opinions of local residents, with the plans to be put to the public for consultation from Wednesday, when any concerns can be raised. Should the development receive planning approval, it is likely to bring a considerable number of jobs to East Manchester.

Patrick Vieira, the former City and France midfield player, will be the person who unveils the plans in his new role as the club’s football development executive.

Yaya Touré says that City are confident they can win the Barclays Premier League title next season. “We expect to win the Premier League because now that we’ve got more confidence, the players know each other better,” the Ivory Coast midfield player said. “I think this year will be fantastic for us.”

Touré is also looking forward to the return to action of his brother, Kolo, who will be available again at the start of September once he has completed a six-month ban for a failed drugs test. “Kolo’s well — he’s in New York with the family,” he said. “We hope September will come quickly and we hope to help the club win something again next year.”
