Red Kent Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 We have at the moment got some midfielders. Joe ColeJonjo ShelveyChristian PoulsonJay SpearingCharlie AdamMaxiAlberto AquilaniRaul MeirelesSteven GerrardJordan HendersonDirk KuytLucas Leiva Add Conor Coady now to that and even Downing There are definately going to be some casualties.
Swipe Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Cole, Poulsen, Aqualani and Raul will be off I think. Shelvey and Spearing might find chances scarce next season and can see Kuyt spending time up front.
alias75 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 First choice midfield.... ........................Lucas......................... .............Gerrard.....Adam................. Suarez...............................Downing Suarez with plenty of license to drift because we have Kelly and GJ that can get forward well from fullback plus Gerrard that can pull into those wide right positions, But you're correct we do have lots of options in midfield. Maybe Kenny is going to be a revolutionary coach ive had this thought for a while now that teams will start using midfielders differently because of the pace of the game now and with teams employing a pressing game you need lots of energy in midfield, so it wouldn't surprise me if it became standard fair to replace 2 maybe even 3 midfielders after around an hour so teams can keep that high intensity pressing for the whole 90 minutes. We could be at the forefront of the next revolution of the game!!!
Flasher Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Too many Js. Joe Cole and Jay Spearing will have to go.
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 4-3-3. So we need six for up front/wide and six for midfield. Kuyt and Maxi are up-front/wide options, as Downing will be if he comes. Cole and Poulsen out. That leaves Adam and Shelvey for the left of centre-mid, Lucas and Spearing for the middle, Gerrard and Henderson for the right. If either Aquilani or Meireles stay, then Shelvey will go on loan.
Benzo-13 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 The culls will be interesting in this position.I rather keep many than have few.
Red Kent Posted July 13, 2011 Author Posted July 13, 2011 Poulson has to be off and I think one of or not both of Aquilani and Meireles. I think Kuyt are not mobile enough to play out on the wings either. I really rate Jonjo and would hate to see him miss out, although at the moment he isn't going to get the regular games he needs.
The_Adder Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I'd have Kuyt upfront competing with big Andy, wouldnt have him wide as he's much more effective them. I reckon: Shelvey will go on loan, hopefully to a prem club, if not then BlackpoolPoulsen to goCole to go (if he is still useless) I'd keep the rest
Falconhoof Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I'm going to stick my neck out and say Conor Coady is a better prospect than Jay Spearing and will move ahead of him in the pecking order.

Until he gets a better song than Stevie H's "miniscule but something to be scared of", he can f*** off.
Falconhoof Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 With Coady we can have some kind of The Coaaady's longwith many a shot and turnthat leads us to whoknows where
Earl Hafler Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Until he gets a better song than Stevie H's "miniscule but something to be scared of", he can f*** off. One of the great songs.
Keita Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Poulsen and Aquilani will be, but finding buyers or getting the players to take a pay cut will be the problem.
Malcolm Bliss Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Not sure it is safe to bank on Gerrard for a full year (or even a good portion of a year). Gerrard out opens door for Raul and Jonjo.
Jarg Armani Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Lucas and Poulsen are the only DCMs on that list. This overstocked midfield is a Lucas injury away from looking totally shambolic.
Bliki Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I'm going to stick my neck out and say Conor Coady is a better prospect than Jay Spearing and will move ahead of him in the pecking order. I agree with you on that. Even though Spearing played well last season (after Dalglish took over) I think he will play few matches nex season.
Ethan Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Lucas and Poulsen are the only DCMs on that list. This overstocked midfield is a Lucas injury away from looking totally shambolic. Spearing?
