You have regularly been having a pint on a Sunday night, drinking with the same group of lads one of whom you get on particularly well with. He starts to bring his mate along, he's a top fella, witty, friendly with no airs and graces at all, joins in with the craic, loves his football, boxing etc....

Then he tells you he's known and worked with Colin Hart for years and gives us Hart's opinions on David Haye's chances of upsetting the odds.

Then you find out what he does for a living and worse still who his employers are.

Would that leave you in a predicament, 'cos it has me? If Hillsborough ever crops up in conversation (which its unlikely I know) I'd try and keep my councel so long as he didn't defend their stance on it. If he did it would get very ugly.

I always assumed that if I ever met a S*n reporter I'd let him have both barrells but in reality in these circumstances it would defo be the wrong thing to do unless the whole subject of the rag and their practices, or even worse McKenzie was raised by somebody other than me, doesn't half mess with your head though.

What would you do?

I know the knee jerk would be you're dining with the devil, and you may be right, I'm not sure. But I met him before I knew and he wasn't with the rag in 1989.
