Antynwa Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Fair does. I've never been a fan of supporter ownership as put forward by Share LFC and SOS for that matter. Although obviously it's good to have the aim, I believe it's un-realistic both now, and in the future. The commitment of funds has been somewhat of a grey area. If SOS was to collect the money pledged at the time right now, how much would they have to invest in the club? We should see how the supporters committee pans out other the coming months, although I believe this should not detract from having an un-official supporters committee which we do need. I would like to see the clubs owners given a chance.
aka Dus Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 That's very disappointing news. Without knowing the committee room discussions in detail, I am struggling to conceive of why it could possibly be deemed ok to simply stop talking about supporter ownership. Short term we're-alright-Jackism. Embarrassing. Well played SOS for refusing to allow the issue to just go away. I fear that sooner or later, supporter ownership will once again be a central concern. However, like our friend above, many many people simply don't care and just want to watch football and talk s*** about football than do anything about the fundamental governance problems within the sport.

I would like to see the clubs owners given a chance. It is not about not giving the owners a chance here. Supporter investment could play a part as means to a way of part funding the stadium solution for example. Not sure on the exact figure pledged, but it was over 50,000 members / registrants between the two organisations. There is the SOS division of Partners Credit Union now which you can save in towards a share, although currently that has primarily been advertised with regards to the Season Ticket Loan with this. As the release says though now is the time to get everything in place to be able to act if needed.

Yeah true, but surely for you guys to know how many of those applicants where serious, and another thing can stump up that cash now is a totally different matter. Surely to move forward with the intention of obtaining fan representation and investment you need to turn around and say we have 'X Amount of money to invest in the club'.
New York Red Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 It will never, ever happen anyway. It's one thing to have a legacy ownership and another entirely to start a new one from scratch. The one person, on vote was a ridulous idea too (not sure if that was official). Does anybody know the actual cash amount of the pledges?
Prag Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Moores, Parry and Purslow are all supporters of LFC. Given their track record, why do people think there's virtue in supporters having influence in the running of the club? Am I missing something obvious?
meredithmathieson Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 The most disappointing thing about FSG for me, so far, has been their complete avoidance of any communication/dialogue in relation to this issue, substituted with the sop of the utterly bizarre Supporters Committee.
aka Dus Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 The issue here surely is that SOS are refusing to allow the issue to go off the agenda while SL disgracefully mothball themselves. The fact is that supporter ownership works in other leagues and it is not out of the question that some measure of supporter ownership may become a statutory stipulation in this league. Our current or future owners may also turn out to be undesireable, in which case the nightmare begins again and this becomes topical once more.

Be interesting to see what happens with Share Liverpool now. Especially as some people, including SOS I believe, have paid for shares
aka Dus Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 http://www.shareliverpoolfc.co.uk/ seems to be down. I wanted to go on and see how I could withdraw my pledge.
