Ombudsam Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 at a team that's good, when can you leave with the fans' blessing? You can't leave mid contract cos people get upset that you're not honouring it and you can't honour your contract cos you're "screwing" the club. Can you only leave with people not caring if the club don't want you anymore at which point you have to get yourself out as quickly as possible.
Rimbeux Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 When the manager/club f***s you over, or is perceived to have f***ed you over. Unless it's genuine, you need a top agent to manufacture that.

Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 If the club gets good money for you and you haven't acted like a t*** - whenever you like
épieur Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I was going to say with a year's notice for fans to get used to it, for top value after a strong final season. And in due time for a replacement to be found. But then, Mascherano didn't exactly leave with the fan's blessing. OTOH, we didn't get top money for him either.Be interesting to see how Arsenal fans will react when Fabregas fulfils his destiny as the prodigal son. Really, they can have no complaints no matter how little money he leaves for. Henry left with the fans' blessing, didn't he?
Sion Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 If you've been a good servant and want to come back to your own country. i.e. Pepe in 10 years time

Cobs Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) Keegan got grief - maybe it was just banter but Clem not so much (IIRC) - got a great ovation from the Kop when he came back with Spurs it's a tricky one, think very much it depends on when you leave, how you leave, what you say about the club, fans Edited June 18, 2011 by Cobs
Antynwa Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I think if you inform the club of your intention to leave before the end of the season, then make it public as soon as the season ends it sort of cushions the blow.

John am Rhein Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 If it's Liverpool, never. If it's not Liverpool it doesn't matter as the fans' blessing isn't worth having anyway
