yep, learned from mourinho's bus-parking tactics. valencia, carrick, rooney, giggs, park in a pretty flat five with park detailed to pick up messi if he's wide. if messi goes inside carrick will drop deeper into the role in front of the back four to pick him and hope that park and evra can capitalise two on one against alves. he won't over-commit though, no way. and he'll be made up with 0-0 at half-time.

in 99, I picked the missus up from the gym & heard on the radio there was about 5 to go & they were losing, got back in, put the telly on to gloat, went into the kitchen to do finish the dishes, heard them equalize & switched off the telly. It was about an hour later I found out they'd won. 08 - I was at work in NY, and avoided the general footy forum.

 

09 I was stuck in London on visa issues

totally different scenario that game though, united were really under-strength and barca are no bayern.

 

that said they could still spawn this one easily by a ref's decision, a set-piece etc. first goal is going to be massively significant. if barca score first then united might not get the ball back. if it's still 0-0 at half-time. . .
