A PUPIL received £750 by successfully suing a Merseyside school after being splashed with custard.

Another Merseyside child was awarded more than £6,000 for falling off a school chair – an ECHO investigation has found.

Thousands more were paid out in the past two years for playground trips. And one student got £3,000 after being “accidentally kicked in the face”.

Today concerned education officials said schools had an “impossible job” in the current compensation culture.

More than £50,000 was paid to pupils’ families in the borough between 2008 and 2010.

Successful claims included £750 for a pupil whose arm was burned by spilt custard, £3,000 for a child accidentally kicked in the face and a student who tripped over an “unmarked ramp” was given £350.
