Drexl Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Goals from midfield, I guess. He managed a few. Cant remember anything else that was useful about him.
Atticus Finch Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Think he was nicknamed the running man at wimbledon
drdooom Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 In Norway was branded "the best without the ball" That's the kind of player ever kid dreams of growing up to be.
Beardsley Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) LeonhardsEn And he was pure s*** Edited May 14, 2011 by Beardsley
Cam Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 What the f*ck did we buy Oyvind for?To play on the right whilst Berger was on the left? I know Oyvind often played left whllst Paddy was out injured but...
épieur Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Wasn't Berger a central player at first? IIRC, it was Houllier who shifted him to the left. I'd love to have a Berger at the height of his powers in the team. Terrific player.
chiliking Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Leo did allright when he was used correctly; in the norwegian national team he was a workhorse( think Kuyt), popping up around goal when the long balls rebounded of someones( think Carrol) head. Very efficient player. But never of Liverpool quality.not near lfc-quality(think s***!).
épieur Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I had an irrational acceptance of Leonhardsen. I never understood the point of him as a player and figured he must be doing something right that I am not really seeing. And he didn't do all that much wrong either. Looking back, it was an utterly bizarre purchase. Overmars signed for Arsenal that summer. Ruud Gullit, Vialli, Zola, Bergkamp, Vieira, Ginola, Ravanelli, Juninho and Di Canio were all recent arrivals in the premiership that made the league a lot more exciting. And we replaced John Barnes with Norwegian midfielder from Wimledon, Leonhardsen.
fred milne Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 And we replaced John Barnes with Norwegian midfielder from Wimledon, Leonhardsen.Paul Ince.
gulaman Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Roy Evans was hopeless. If it wasn't for Fowler and McManaman (along with good supporting acts also in their prime such as Rob Jones and Jamie Redknapp) being at the peak of their powers during his time, we would have struggled badly. Luckily for him these players were already at the club. The players he signed were largely rubbish. Paddy being one of his few successes.
épieur Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) we loved Norwegians then didn't we ?Bjornebye, Kvarme, Leonhardsen, Heggem. Kippe. It was a golden era. Edited May 14, 2011 by epieur
muleskinner Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Bjornebye, Kvarme, Leonhardsen, Heggem. Kippe. It was a golden era.Heggem paved the way for Aurelio so it wasn't an entirely wasted spell at the club.
chiliking Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 These players were essential the Norwegian National teams ranking as number two in the world! That was glorious days for Norway, not as much for Liverpool
stressederic Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Heggem was class There was a great little period where everytime he played against Boro he came up with a goal of the season contender.
magic melia Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Bjornebye, Kvarme, Leonhardsen, Heggem. Kippe. It was a golden era.50 pence a letter on the back of shirt it made commercial sense
meredithmathieson Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 What? Ray " sorry about that lads, I couldn't quite reach that ball" Houghton. Much, much better.
LondonLiverpoolFan Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Think he was nicknamed the running man at wimbledon I reckon just to beat sammya in a running man dance off. He still owes me £1m from a bet we had at an xmas YNWA get together (the Des vs Anny Rd one).... The big estate agent fanny....
