Red Lecter Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I started a new job recently, and I'm currently getting a car allowance of £450 per month, which after tax works out to around £300. On top of that, business travel is paid at 38p/mile. I now have the option to carry on and buy a newer car - still second hand - maybe 3 years old - because I'd rather let someone else take the hit on depreciation. I also have the option of going for a lease car up to a monthly rate of £350 + VAT that the company will handle direct so I don't have any hassles. Based on 15k miles and inclusive of maintenance. +18p/mile for business miles. My current options are: 1. BMW 320d Efficient Dynamics 2. Audi A4 2.0 TDi 3. Honda Accord 2.2 DTEC The problem with the BMW & Audi are that rear leg room is awkward for the middle passenger because of the rear wheel drive. I have 3 kids, so it is a genuine concern. I may be able to strech to a BMW 520d SE by contributing any additional balance. Any advice? Anyone know where to get a good deal on a lease - better than the ones generally being advertised?
