Hus Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 Ah f***.We belong with Adidas. Yep - love the stripes
mofus77 Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 We belong with whoever gives us the most cash. It's only a clothing manufacturer.
carrafan Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) 25 million a year is a huge deal! They belong to New Balance looks like. Kyrgiakos in a Warriors shirt? Muhahahaha. Edited April 22, 2011 by carrafan
Clay Davis Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Got a bit of identity with Adidas kits though. Not all about money considering how many people buy them.
Benzo-13 Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Yep - love the stripesSame here. There's a bit of tradition there.Real, Bayern, Marseille, Benfica and us = Adidas. We belong with whoever gives us the most cash. It's only a clothing manufacturer.Yeah but all that Reebok crap was f***in s****.
Stanley Leisure Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 It is a massive deal, if it's true. We're gonna look like Middlesborough, though.
Stupid Sexy Flanders Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I looked at their website and I instantly hated them. Surely Adidas can do a better job of global recognition than this lot.
Hus Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 Yeah but all that Reebok crap was f***in s****. Agree, Reebok were rubbish - I really like the current home and new away kit
Benzo-13 Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Agree, Reebok were rubbish - I really like the current home and new away kitSame here. Was made up when we left them. Some things are meant in football and us and Adidas is a good fit. This is gonna hit sales of the new away kits as well.
Sion Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Does it matter? No adult should be wearing the kit anyway. As long as its red I don't care if it looks like it came out of the sports soccer bargain bin if we get a massive wedge of cash.
Hassony Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Very good deal considering we're not even in europe never heard of them though
Clay Davis Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Big deal, monetarily, but not a fan of it in every other sense. Not sure if the money outweighs all that to be honest.

As long as its red I don't care if it looks like it came out of the sports soccer bargain bin if we get a massive wedge of cash.Hmm... It's not a big a deal as renaming the stadium obviously but where is the line drawn on what we'll do for money? Netto Anfield ok as long as they give us a massive wedge of cash? Liverpool and Adidas go together, in my opinion, just think of the Candy, Crown Paints kits and now the current ones. The fact is that men do buy the kits, loads of people do, it's an identity - a bit uneasy about this in that regard.

Epic Swindle Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 We could play in bin bags for all I care for that amount of cash.
Hus Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 Full article from the times - nabbed from RAWK Liverpool have secured the biggest kit deal in English football history, the £25 million-a-year contract with Boston-based Warrior Sports more than doubling the Anfield club’s present agreement with adidas. The Times understands that Warrior, a subsidiary of New Balance, will take over production of Liverpool kits in time for the 2012-13 season. Adidas, which launched a new away kit last week as part of its £12 million-a-year contract with the club, had the chance to match the offer but was not prepared to meet the American company’s price. The link between Liverpool and Warrior is believed to be a long-term relationship and outstrips the £23.3 million per year that Nike pays Manchester United, the previous British record.John W. Henry, the Liverpool owner, has insisted since taking over at Anfield in October that the club would only spend money that it generates. With Liverpool unlikely to qualify for the Champions League this season, some had questioned their ability to compete in the transfer market. However, the agreement with a brand better known in the lacrosse world would appear to have solved the short-term cashflow problems caused by failure to qualify for Europe’s premier club tournament.Sources inside Anfield have been increasingly bullish about their summer spending power and Kenny Dalglish is likely to have a considerable war chest when the transfer window opens.Although the Liverpool caretaker manager believes that the crop of youngsters emerging from the academy has the potential to continue making a positive impression on his squad, he maintains that investment is necessary during the close season if the club are to become competitive again.“It’s important that there is room for development for players, but it’s also important you don’t use it as an excuse not to spend money and not improve what you’ve already got,” Dalglish said.“Age does not determine their ability to play. So if we’re convinced we have young players who are maybe better than what’s available, then we’ll keep our younger players.“But that does not say we don’t want to improve as a football club. We do need to leave some path open if we do think there are players who can come in. If they develop then fine, if they don’t, we’ve got a problem. But if you buy a player in and he doesn’t produce, you’ve got a bigger problem.”According to PR Marketing, a German market research company, Liverpool are the fourth-biggest replica kit seller in football, behind United, Real Madrid and Barcelona. About 900,000 shirts are sold annually and, in the adidas stable, only Real sell more jerseys. Liverpool’s defection has come as a huge blow to the manufacturer.Fenway Sports Group (FSG), Liverpool’s owner, has in recent months become increasingly close to Jim Davis, the chairman of New Balance. This month New Balance, previously best known for its running shoes, announced a multiyear partnership with the Boston Red Sox, who share the same owner as Liverpool. Along with a kit deal, New Balance is thought to have paid in the region of $1 million (about £600,000) for a 70-foot illuminated logo inside Fenway Park, the home of the Red Sox.United’s groundbreaking 13-year deal with Nike expires in 2015 and the Old Trafford club will expect an even bigger cheque when the time comes to negotiate with kit manufacturers.
floyd the barber Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 we are rubbish with adidas.. we should be umbro or reebok.....why? cos when with those.. we win things...and thats a fact
Clay Davis Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 it's only a kit mate the only thing that matters is how much money the clubs gets out of itI suppose that's the whole point, yeah. Still - would have preferred to find out Adidas were gonna give us £25 mill a season! An extra 13 a season we'll be getting. United get £23m from Nike for theirs. Its big f***ing money like!
Sion Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) Hmm... It's not a big a deal as renaming the stadium obviously but where is the line drawn on what we'll do for money? The fact is that men do buy the kits, loads of people do, it's an identity - a bit uneasy about this in that regard. We were only with Adidas 1985-95. So really only the late 80s kits that have any sort of affinity. If anything Liverpool and Umbro go together! And its not like we're selling our soul and abandoning an ethical brand and taking on an evil brand in order to make money - that might have made me feel uneasy. Most of my clothes in the sportswear category are adidas, but if I was paid thousands of pounds a year to wear Diadora, I'd have a bedroom full of the stuff. Edited April 22, 2011 by Sion
