Clay Davis Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 How do we approach this? Same team as City, surely? Be an absolutely huge test for Flanagan this if he gets the nod again, its one thing playing somewhere familiar with the entire crowd behind you and another going against a top, top team away from home. Arsenal are always the team I fear most before playing them, not sure why - I think its some deep rooted fear of Julio Baptista coming back. Question is, which side will turn up - the Sunderland/City Jekyll or the West Brom/Braga Hyde!
CarraLegend Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I'd have fancied us if we had a full team or nearly but I think it's to much of an ask with this team, you never know with Arsenal though.
baz2107 Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 plenty off crosses for Carroll to battle with Lehmann/Almunia/whoever they stick in goal will be order of the day
fred milne Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 It has to be same XI as against City. I'm not particularly hopeful about the result - we're not great on the road generally and it must be over a decade since we last beat Arsenal away. Just checked and the last time we beat them was in 1997 when McManaman scored a cracking goal. That was the season they won the double for the first time.
CarraLegend Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) Nah, TITI CAMARA!!! 2000. Edited April 14, 2011 by CarraLegend

CarraLegend Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 We beat them in 2000 at Highbury. Titi Camara got the winner. Gerrards pass was orgasmic!
Sion Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I still have nightmares about that Carling Cup game. I remember having go at some dick leaving when they scored their 5th I think it was. We'd tonk them at home, but away is a different matter. They usually raise their game to play us as well. Can see Carra playing RB Still, as long as the Swog and the Carog are playing i'm confident.
redjersey Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Gerrards pass was orgasmic!Top finish too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVOC0AmCwvc
Tosh Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 it must be over a decade since we last beat Arsenal away. Nah, TITI CAMARA!!! 2000. Am I the only one living in 2011?
Gerrardrules Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Titi made my first match watching the reds live an occasion never to forget.
CarraLegend Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Top finish too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVOC0AmCwvc Awesome, I remember Lucas doing an even better pass at the Emirates, took about 6 of theirs straight out the game but Voronin wasnt quite as ruthless with the finish, the c***.
Ed the Wool Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Can't believe that was 2000. Seems like yesterday.
Conrad Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 It has to be same XI as against City. Yes. How long is Johnson out for though, and will Aurelio be fit?
Rory Fitzgerald Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Titi seemed to take about 20mins to take his strike - seemed forever when I watched it live. Gerrard hit another cracker of a pass 2 years later to put in Riise when we drew 1-1 there in the white shirts.
Molby Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Titi seemed to take about 20mins to take his strike - seemed forever when I watched it live. Gerrard hit another cracker of a pass 2 years later to put in Riise when we drew 1-1 there in the white shirts. that was one of the all time ten passes that shook the world he played it first time using the top/outside of his foot - unbelievable technique and vision to see Riise's run and the space in behind
Ed the Wool Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I have a feeling we'll do these. Carroll and Suarez look to be taking off, they're under pressure to keep up with Utd and they regularly buckle under pressure. Having said that, I thought we'd lose against City and we t****** them.
yellow jumper Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) remember desperately scouring a foreign airport (can't recall where) for that result. couldn't believe it when i found out. think we had a pretty depleted team out. titi-ti-ti-ti, titi-ti-ti-ti, titi ti-ti-ti! titi camara! was at the riise game in amongst the home fans, although thankfully in the main stand, as i was up off my seat. very similar goal. still one of the best ways to beat them i reckon, runners in behind that high line. Epic Swindle Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Andre Marriner in the middle, advantage Arsenal Which ref doesn't have it in for us? It's all going a bit Collina.
Red Kent Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Which ref doesn't have it in for us? It's all going a bit Collina. Mark Halsey, Mark Clattenberg. That's about it.
Sion Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 There are some who are just bad at their jobs and we've suffered from that. But the likes of Atkinson clearly have it in for us
Benzo-13 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Mark Halsey, Mark Clattenberg. That's about it.We don't get Clattenburg anymore. 2007 was last time.
