Gravy Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Watching and listening to the Spurs fans at WHL last night it got me wondering back to my top 5 moments that I have been lucky enough to be present at Anfield (memory permitting), some for individual reasons personal to me, and come up with the following. 1. Chelsea CL 20052. Chelsea CL 20073. Leicester City League 1972/734. Man U Milk Cup 1985/865. QPR League 1987/88 Yours?

CarraLegend Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Big CL games etc but I loved Titus Bramble being roared on as if it was Kenny Dalglish coming on as a sub for us on boxing day 2005.
David Hodgson Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 1. Chelsea 20052. Barca 20013. Chelsea 20074. Forest 19885. Newcastle 1996

I remember Kevin Francis coming on for Derby in one game and the kop singing "what the f***ing hell is that" That was funny. And singing match of the day at Shearer was ace. And happy birthday to Kenny this season as well.
_00_deathscar Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Actually going to Anfield would be #1. Will let you know #2-5 once I've gotten through #1.

Logic Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 #1 Kuyt's goal in the 5-0 against AV#2 Seeing Riera's shot end in the net in the same game (didn't see the shot itself because of the restricted view...) #3 Realising we got a pen later in the same game (stopped watching our penalties in the shootout the 25th May 2005 and I wasn't going to start there).#4 Gerrard's goal to make it 4-0 in the same game.#5 Realising I was probably about to miss the third goal in my first visit to Anfield when we got the second penalty in the same game. As you can see I've only been once to Anfield. Can't wait for next time! Hopefully I'll see more goals than I don't then!
JRC Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 St EtienneChelsea 2005OlympiakosForest 5-0Newcastle 4-3 96 Subs bench would include Bruges, Arsenal 2008 CL QF, the Fairclough Derby in 77 and Roma when Ged came back. Beating Utd to deny them the league in 92(?) was great, but putting it top 5 would be small-time. But, boy, was it good, especialy as there were some angry and over emotional Mancs in the Main Stand near by. Never have I enoyed others pain so much. Would also say I left Arsenal 89 desperately sad, but immensely proud of how close we got, considering the trauma of the previous 6 weeks, and how the fans still stayed to applaud Arsenal.

I kinda regret that orgy of schadenfreude now, as it heralded the beginning of their bloody golden age. Auxerre is worthy of honourable mention, as is Palace 9-0, and Roma 2002.

Tommy Cockles Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Yeah, I nearly included that Manc 1992 'always look on the bright side game'. I kinda regret that orgy of schadenfreude now, as it heralded the beginning of their bloody golden age. I knew it at the time. "This is going to come back on us" I actually said that in the pub after.
sean Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 The outpouring of emotion with the crowd and Rafa yesterday was certainly a top moment in Anfield, in obvious darkened circumstances. Brilliant from the crowd and brilliant from an absolute huge LFC man. How can he possibly manage any other club bar ours, with the same passion at least.
Molby Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I knew it at the time. "This is going to come back on us" I actually said that in the pub after. whereas I said - "that's it, they'll NEVER win the league now, the losers" things did not pan out as I'd hoped
