Cobs Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 whaddyareckon? Should he get a ban for swearing down the camera? Do you think the FA will ?
johngibo YPC Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Don't think he'll get a banNot sure he'll even get charged
ManxRed Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 You can't take that out of his game, he'd not be the same pla......... ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..............
Cobs Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 can't see how he's not 'bringing the game into disrepute' tbh, so I am expecting a charge from the FA - especially in the 'current climate' as to how hard they hit him i'm not sure
muleskinner Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 They will send him a stern letter ticking him off. Next week he will be swearing at all and sundry again.
CarraLegend Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 He should be charged but he always gets away with this stuff which is exactly why he's like he is.
muleskinner Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Alan Curbishley was just on the radio blaming the tv cameras for being so close to the action.
Epic Swindle Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 He's foul isn't he. It was a lot worse than I thought it'd be actaully. You couldn't do that in any era never mind now. He'll get away with it though, the delicate soul that he is.
Bailo Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 It was completely unwarranted, and he ended up just looking really weird. Like he was a pissed-up idiot stumbling out of Wetherspoons on a Friday night after 16 pints of Stella.
Cobs Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Drogba got a 6 gamer from UEFA didn't he - for saying 'it's a f*cking disgrace' and having a pop at the ref this isn't as bad as that but it would be laughable if a day or so after the FA announce their new clampdown on player behaviour that they let this pass

He'll get a fine and thatll be it, not that I think he should even get a fine.....
sutty Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 well drogba had slightly more than a pop at the ref cobs.... He'll get a fine and thatll be it, not that I think he should even get a fine.....Not seen it other than the stills but the talk of making an example of Rooney is surely the whole reason why they shouldn't do that Come up with some rules and enforce the rules.
Earl Hafler Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 whaddyareckon? Should he get a ban for swearing down the camera? Do you think the FA will ? Like you and most people, i'm fed up with it beyond belief. They should punish him, and should have been punishing him for years. Laughable comments from Ferdinand about " leave him alone " ( or maybe he was on the Jacko tip ), as if he was a hounded, honest player. The elbow went unpunished, Ferguson goes unpunished, and then the FA throw in a token touchline ban or fine that these people earn in a day. And then there's the referees like Atkinson. If it wasn't for Dalglish coming back, i may have just f***ed football off altogether this season Saturated with corruption and regressive or inactive management. Just like horse racing.
Cobs Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 well drogba had slightly more than a pop at the ref cobs.... he had a go at the ref, got booked for it, still wanted a go, got held back by his team-mates and then turned and swore down the camera - so yeah, worse than Rooney (as i said) - still though, 6 game ban - or was there something else? Drogba Rooney
MarkD Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Be banned for 2 games on a Wednesday...in July - together with a strictly worded post-it note which will be sent to him 'soon'...
Ostrich Man Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 he had a go at the ref, got booked for it, still wanted a go, got held back by his team-mates and then turned and swore down the camera - so yeah, worse than Rooney (as i said) - still though, 6 game ban - or was there something else? Drogba Rooneynothing else, just felt your "pop at referee" underplayed the aggressive nature of drogba's confrontation with the ref. But then again I thought a 6 match ban for that was well over the top also. forgetting your anti-utd pro-liverpool/chelsea feelings do you think rooney should get a ban for what happened on saturday?
Buzz Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) As much as I think he should and would like him too get a ban or fine, or something, one of my fondest football memories as a child was when a certain Mr Emlyn Crazy Horse Hughes absolutely hammered one home from outside the box and ran off screaming in a very excited high pitch voice, "F***ING HELL, F***ING HELL, F***ING HELL....." repeatedly, that could clearly be heard on the sound on Match of the Day. It was one of the most watched goals on my 101 great goals of Match of the Day video I got quite a few years later too. Edited April 4, 2011 by Buzz

Emlyn had more class in his little toe.
dorgie Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 The problem, as I see it, is that the football authorities make up punishments as they go along and also they ignore things for too long before tackling it. We've all known for ages that Rooney uses foul language that is picked up regularly on tv screens (I'm sure other players do it too, but Rooney is the one that we all see doing it on a regular basis - I'm trying hard to put bias aside when making that statement). Why did they sit down and think up a punishment (yellow card) for taking your shirt off after scoring a goal but didn't think it appropriate to come up with something consistent where players spout foul & abusive language at officials etc ? Just doesn't make sense. If the FA are serious about it, then there's no reason why they can't get to the stage that the rugby authorties are at where there is almost total respect on the field for officials.
Cobs Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 do you think rooney should get a ban for what happened on saturday? yes 1 - swearing on the pitch is one thing2 - swearing on the pitch and being filmed by the TV cameras another3 - swearing at the ref should be a red card & a 3 game ban4 - swearing down the camera on a lunchtime kick off match knowing full well there's millions of kids watching at home is something else again and puts it more in line with Point 3 than Points 1 & 2. It's a lack of control, a lack of respect and I'm fed up to the back teeth of watching this imbecile do stuff like this time and time again and get away with it. In his favour I'd say unlike his manager he's had the good grace post match to admit he was wrong and apologise but I'd still give him a 1 game ban and warn him over his future conduct.
Cobs Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 And this is why Rooney & Ferguson need banning - see if you can see their handiwork amongst this....
Buzz Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Wasn't down the camera with an angry snarl though. Emlyn had more class in his little toe.No, it was with a smile. Without the sound I can't be totally sure now ( ) but I think it was this one at 4.28.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU9-3gv0K84Emlyn was class!
kop205 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) And this is why Rooney & Ferguson need banning - see if you can see their handiwork amongst this.... Surely you aren't suggesting a causal connection between the conduct of Rooney and Ferguson and the conduct of those kids are you? Edited April 4, 2011 by kop205

This false moral outrage over someone saying f*** a couple of times, its beyond a joke. All thoise millions of kids had never heard the word f*** before and even if they had they certainly wouldnt have used it, but because rooney did theyll all start doing it now. f***ing nonsense....as yer man in the mirror said Its been a few years since cantona kung fu kicked a fan live on telly and Ive yet to see that happen at a kids game since.
