scientists have come up with a new plan to move Qatar to a part of the planet with a cooler climate.

or, by 2022, global warming will have done it for them.

That World Cup will be a complete clusterf*ck. I am confident that I will have no interest in it at that point. The shame is that Blatter will be dead by then and won't get to witness how he f*cked up a great tournament.

Scientists at Qatar University claim to have invented a synthetic cloud which could shield stadiums and training grounds from oppressive heat. It is reported each cloud could cost in the region of $500,000. The project will be developed in conjunction with Qatar Science and Technology Park.

Saud Abdul Ghani, head of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Qatar University, said: "Artificial cloud will move by remote control, made of 100% light carbonic materials, fuelled by four solar-powered engines and it will fly high to protect direct and indirect sun rays to control temperatures at the open playgrounds."

Good lad.

See now we can slag the idea off but if we found someone willing to fund research into half million dollar clouds that we can move with engines we'd be soft not to grab it and spend ten years 'in development'.

Fake cloud? FFS. Play the games in the evening and let the players sweat it out. No one is going to die.

I concur.

I've played footy when i've been out there during the summer. It was about 44C i think on one occasion, but I still managed to play for a full 90 minutes. And these lots are supposed to be pro's so they should be much fitter & stronger. Bunch of pansies.

Same. The worry of dehydration was the only real problem i faced, although cricket isnt half as hectic as football. Lasts a lot longer though.
