Football Boots aka Soccer Cleats

So my 13yo son has finally made the A team at school for the upcoming season as goalkeeper aka goal tender.

He needed new boots/cleats so we headed to a speciality store in town on a recommendation from a friend.

He is a shade under 6 ft tall and usually wears a size 13 shoe.

The guy at the soccer store measured his feet and said he would need a size 14 boot.

"what do you have?" says I.

he replied that they only carry 1 style in that size and they were on sale for $159.99. after the paramedics revived me, we left the store without the boots.

luckily, I found a pair of Adidas 13 and a halfs at another place for $40. He also needed goalie gloves which set me back $25. He'll only play 7 or 8 games and has no intention of playing soccer at high school or in the fall for somebody else.

when did footy boots start costing the freaking earth? and watch out for gently used boots on sale by the end of May.
