Conrad Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 So, Pacheco. I've noticed over on the Targets thread that people, in among their projected summer squads, are generally ignoring Pacheco as an option. Yet, until recently he would often crop up in people's matchday XIs, particularly in the Europa. Hodgson was frequently criticised for not giving him enough minutes. I don't think Kenny has given him a single minute of playing time has he? Which in the Europa I think is quite damning, given we've sold Torres, Suarez has been ineligible and Carroll has been injured. N'Gog gets more minutes. Cole gets more minutes. I've felt for a long time that Pacheco is overrated on here and that for the type of player he is and his preferred position, he's nowhere near good enough to make it at Liverpool, or at any Champions League level club. Are other people now starting to feel the same way? Or, If people still think Pacheco has a role, what role is it and on what basis do they think it would not be in both LIverpool and Pacheco's interest that he moves on in the summer?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I doubt we'll do anything but move him on now
cymrococh Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Pacheco is a sh*t tw*t now, it's all about Raheem Sterling.
Falconhoof Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 we just need to sign a Lleytono Maxellez and we'll be set for the next 5 years.
Leo No.8 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I think basically its a case of if Kenny doesn't like him then there must really be something we don't know about! Kenny has no agendas and is keen to develop young players and give them chances. I think Pacheco is really talented, but I trust Kenny to judge the players correctly. If he's not had much of a chance under Rafa last season when we were crap and decimated by injuries, nor under Kenny (I am of course deliberately ommitting the old fart in between whose opinion counts for absolutely nothing) then those of us who like him as a player must be missing something that is clear by watching him in training etc. And if he's not going to play he might as well be sold, although I would definitely insist on a buy back clause for wherever he goes - or a fairly decent sell on percentage.
fred milne Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I still think he's a gifted player and find his lack of playing time hard to understand, particularly given how little Cole contributes when he puts on a red shirt but Kenny must have his reasons.
The_Adder Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 The one major mystery of Kenny's reign. There simply must be a reason, although I have no idea what it is.
Conrad Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 The one major mystery of Kenny's reign. There simply must be a reason, although I have no idea what it is. I don't think it is a mystery. He just isn't good enough, as I am sure Kenny knows from seeing him in training every day.
Sion Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I don't think it is a mystery. He just isn't good enough, as I am sure Kenny knows from seeing him in training every day. Hasn't stopped him playing Cole or Poulsen
Conrad Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 Hasn't stopped him playing Cole or Poulsen Right, so Kenny trusts a completely shot Cole to offer more than Pacheco in basically a similar kind of role. Says it all
Frosty Jack Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 The one major mystery of Kenny's reign. There simply must be a reason, although I have no idea what it is. I've said it before, I don't think its because of ability, I don't think he's a world beater, but he's no Ritchie Partridge. And you would think, looking at the weakness of our squad, that he would've got more playing time under Kenny. Kenny not selecting him is then supposed to prove that he's not good enough, when all it proves is that he's out of favour at the club, probably wants to be, and will be, moved on. The one major mystery of Kenny's reign. There simply must be a reason, although I have no idea what it is. Attitude, burned bridges under Roy? Kev alluded to something months back.
jimmylibel Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Given the amount of speculation that he was off in January I think it's fair to assume that there were offers for him. However instead of moving, he signed an extended contract. I'm not sure that can be seen as anything other than a vote of confidence in his ability. The club even went out of their way praising him when he appeared for the reserves when he was in one of the Europa League squads. If he makes it through the summer I think he'll feature a lot more next year.

Dee Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 according to my Norwich friend, he was wanted there on loan - might do him good?
Frosty Jack Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 he is only just 20, Kenny might just think he's not ready yet.how many under 20s have we had in the first team since Owen?

Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Pacheco is sooooooo 2009, Suso is 2010's has-been. It's all about that Scottish guy Sterling
johngibo YPC Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Attitude, burned bridges under Roy? Kev alluded to something months back. After which he signed a new contract thoughThe daft c*nt
muleskinner Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 He was given a new deal in December wasn't he?
Leo No.8 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 according to my Norwich friend, he was wanted there on loan - might do him good? I think a loan is a must if the club is going to keep him going forward, would be interesting to see how he got on with regular playing time.
Farmer's Tan Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 i'd say it has more to do with the position he plays/wants to play in which is in the hole,we have meireles cole who is on huge wages gerrard, suarez can play there. The kid has a lot of talent was the player of the world cup, maybe he has a bit of an attitude and that's what is holding him back, maybe he just isn't ready yet or needs to bulk up more.i get the impression that there is a certain dislike of pacheco and that this is what is driving this debate rather than his actual ability.Cole is on massive wages and he is either going to justify those wages this season or be moved on,ngog is a striker and has scored goals albeit not many.If the club feel he is not good enough he will be moved on,maybe a loan move would work out for him, give him playing time and some confidence but so far i don't think that has been reported anywhere as an option
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Neil Mellor got more minutes then Dani boy. when he was a couple of years older than DP is now.
