Old players joining the coaching staff

I read recently that Sami was going to join the Leverkusen coaching staff. I hope that's not true. I Liverpool legend like him with so much intellectual brilliance in his position is exactly who should be brought back into the fold. I've thought that Didi has that potential too.

 

Does anyone think there are potential Liverpool managers among our current or recently retired players?

I think a good indication that Carra might be good is in the same match, when we got the pen, everyone was celebrating but Carra was the one that had the calm mind to go and try to get Gattuso sent off. I remember Rafa saying that he doesn't celebrate because he knows he needs to stay calm and think logically. Carra did that in the most passionate circumstances.

 

Having said that, he would need shooting if he brought his passion for the long 'gid rid quick' ball into our style of play...

I think I agree although I would say that while he does have limitations as a player I don't think there is any doubt that he likes the long ball. He plays it when he is under no pressure remember.

Under no pressure perhaps, but i don't think he plays it often when he has a midfield pass available

AFAIK, no such thing has been reported here in Finland. Read somewhere that he'll still play one more season.

I used to think Danny Murphy might end up managing us one day. I don't any more, but I think he might end up being a good mid-level manager.

 

There must be less incentive for the top players to go into management these days. It's not like they need to keep working.

Don't know about the management, but I always think that Xabi's and Carra's sons are going to be savage footballers, more so than other players' kids, for some reason.
